Hi all,

Just joined up.

I know you get a lot of these posts but can't find one that I'm satisfied with yet.

I'm a full time smoker, about 30 a, day, looking for an ecigarette in an attempt to quit smoking all together. I am looking to buy an e cig which does not require refilling of tanks/cartridges with separate atomisers/atomizers or whatever they are called. I understand there are ones which have the heating element and nicotine reservoir in one unit (in other words the heating element is replaced with the nicotine).

In terms of appearance, I would prefer a black e cig without a light on the end, looking like an analogue cig is not important and to an extent undesirable.

From the infomation provided from this page I think the eGo is my preferred however, when searching for a distributor of the eGo, I find the eGo-C and eGo-T, both of which seem to require refilling tanks/cartridges. Is there another model that I have not yet found with combined heating elements and cartridges? Also which vendor is best to distribute to Perth Western Australia. Price is not a huge concern, getting the product that will best help me quit is.

Many thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about vendors for Aussies, but as the previous poster linked this forum does have a supplier list.

As far as good beginner equipment, get yourself 900mah eGo USB batteries. They can be charged while you vape by removing a cap at the "Cherry" end of the cig and plugging them into any standard USB port. I say batteries because you'll end up on analogs again if you don't have backup. These things are the workhorses of vaping and have very good lifespans plus hold a fairly long charge through the day when off the charger and can even be easily charged while driving.

For producing vapor-
Stardust style clearomizers are pretty easy to maintain and hold more liquid than a standard ego-c tank system. Also can be used with mixed liquids (50/50 vg/pg) for better vapor production. The downside is a bit of fiddling and they're a pain to fill. They look nice on an eGo battery.

Cartomizer Tanks (SmokTech UDCT / DCT) are also a good option. They hold about a full 8hrs+ worth of liquid and are fairly easy to refill with something like a "Slap yo mamma" tool (Check youtube for instructions) The trick to these is to NOT use flanged cartomizers (Again check youtube) for easier filling, and have a "Ming" or "Cone" style drip tip for a mouthpiece to help keep the tank locked in place. The tanks also look nice on an eGo battery but will require a bit of youtubing to get working right and also you'll need to buy a "Skirt" to cover the threads on the eGo battery. Go with 2-2.5ohm XL cartomizers.

You can also just run any 510 style cartomizer as long as you can keep it from going dry. There is an optional "Ego Cone" you can buy that will make the ego look really sharp with any 510 cart sticking out of it. These cones are sold with matching finishes to the batteries.

Finally you could just use the eGo-C style tanks / heating elements but you'll be limited to 100% PG liquids (These generally don't produce as much vapor). If you do stick to the Joyetech standard setup do yourself a favor and get the "Low Resistance" type atomizer heads. They'll beef up the flavor/vapor production quite a bit for the PG to shine.

EDIT- The Ego-C and Ego-T are basically just newer versions of the same product. You don't need to buy the kit. You can get the batteries and accessories separately. I do highly recomend getting 15ml or 30ml needle tip bottles for easier filling on the go and a case of some sort. The Sony-PSP sized and shaped "Ego" cases work perfectly for 2 batteries, 2x 15ml bottles, extra cartomizers or tips, charging cable and wall usb charger.

Hello and Welcome Darkie,

I am from the US so I do not know much about what suppliers would be cost effective for you to buy from. I can recommend some hardware for you though as far what may satisfy your requirements. Please keep in mind that the following information is just my opinion and should not be taken as gospel. This comes from my own personal experience and money spent on almost all levels of equipment until I got to where I am today.

As far as a power supply/mod/battery/bottom end I would recommend that you skip all the cigarette look alikes. They simply cannot offer enough convenience and or performance to satiate a full time smoker's needs. With that said the next step up is an eGo style battery. These are the ones such as the Joyetech eGo batteries. They more resemble a cigar than a cigarette but if you purchase yourself a variable voltage version it can offer quite good performance for the size. For this I would recommend something like an Joyetech eGo Twist or a Spinner. They can in a variety of battery capacities from 650 mah - 1100+. The battery capacity will determine the size of the battery. It is up to you to choose what length is acceptable to you.

If you want to take the leap into a full size mod (battery/advanced personal vaporizer) then I would recommend you take a look at the Vamo V2, Sigelei Zmax V3, Provari, Provari mini. The Vamo V2 would be the most affordable at ~$50 US with the Provari reaching upwards of ~180 + required accessories to get started. There are many models in between but these models I've pointed out seem to be some of the most popular as of the writing of this post. I believe 99% of vapers inevitably transition to these types of devices anyway because they do offer the BEST performance available compared to the eGo type devices.

As far as delivery devices you also have many types to choose from but what you have described as your requirement is what is known as a cartomizer. This is a combination of two devices in one housing. The atomizer (responsible for heating the liquid), and the cartridge which is essentially just a holder that clicks into an atomizer that is filled with some type of batting to hold the liquid. The most popular ones and my personal favorites are Ikenvapes as well as Boges. Within even these two brands you will have many choices to make. Cartomizers can be used stand alone with a battery or you can insert them into tanks that holds your eliquid. I will put a short list together for you at the bottom of this post.

Lastly is the question of your eliquid (juice). You stated that you just wanted pre filled cartomizers that get replaced when you need a refill. There are many vendors for those juices but the best juices will only be available in a bottle and not come in a prefilled cartomizer or cartridge. This is because cartomizers typically will last through several refills (in the case of Ikenvape 2 weeks worth of vaping is not uncommon) before they are of no use. With prefilled cartomizers you will probably be paying more for the cartomizer than you are paying for the liquid. I would highly recommend that you consider purchasing ejuice from a reputable vendor and just refilling your cartomizer. It is extremely easy. Just a matter of opening a small eye dropper bottle and dripping some liquid into the cartomizer. Well there is a bit more technique involved but that is the general gist of it. You will probably want to start with 24-18mg nicotine juice. You probably do not want to purchase more than 30ml worth of that strength as most people will lower the dosage of nicotine after a week or two. As far as specific e liquids there are just too many to list but here is a link to the "best of 2012" on ECF. You may wish to start w/ some of those juices.

Short list. I am not recommending these specific vendors. It is just a link to the products discussed above.

Step 1
Choose 1 or more of these to power your ecig:
eGo Twist
eGo Spinner
Vamo V2
Sigelei Zmax V3
Provari
Provari Mini
Step 2
Choose 1 or more of these to hold your juice:
Ikenvape Platinum LR
Boge LR

Step 3
Choose a juice or 2

Step 4
Vape and enjoy

Edit: I forgot to mention that you should pick up at least 1 drip tip. They are the mouth piece that you suck on =p.

Welcome and congratulations on your decision to quit and vape. I was about 30 a day myself.
Good news bad news.
Good news- it works for most
Bad news- no set up is perfect. The closest thing to what you describe is a never ending chain of disposables. Cost is high, quality marginal. You need to refill anything you buy that you don't just throw away.

You have to find the setup that works for you. You will probably try a couple of different things.
The secret is to enjoy the journey.

Agree with a lot of the other posters. Ego batteries are a good place to start. Durable and reliable. At 30 stinkies a day I would recommend at least 2 of the higher capacity 900-1100 Mah. Pass through option would help you too but make sure one is always fully charged in back up. Joyetech is the most reliable brand.

That is the easy part. Finding your delivery system is the hard part. In general messing with the liquid and such will be the lower cost / better flavor option. Trust me it is not that hard and becomes second nature after a while.
After a lot of trial and error I settled on the Kanger T2 Clearomizer. Cheap, durable, easy to fill and better flavor than most. At least for me.
Some prefer the Stardust (ce4) or Vivi Nova series. I also have the T3, Vivi novas, CE4, etc. but use the T2 most of the time.

Really up to your preference but that would be my recommendation for easy to fill, least hassle with the volume and battery life you will need. The kits generally provide better value but you can buy the batteries and clearomizers seperately. Not a bad way to go for trying different gear. Don't forget a charger or two and you can (almost) never have too many back ups.

Same for juice. Would recommend starting with tobacco flavors and some strength. Probably 24 mg . You can move on to other flavors later. Some are great some not so great. Some you think you will like you won't. Main thing for now is to get off the stinkies.

This forum can be a great support system. Recommend visitng the Australia-New Zealand section. May pic up some local vendor tips.

You can also move up to variable voltage/variable wattage systems later if you want. Some like the Vamo are not too high in cost. Depends on your goal. I am fighting that now as I love vaping but my original goal was to get off the stinkies and then get off vaping too.

Welcome, good luck and enjoy the journey.

I'd say definitely get a battery with a USB pass through. I started off with a Valcano inferno kit and quickly upgraded from there. That being said I still use those batteries for backups or when traveling on airplanes. It's so convenient to be able to plug into any USB port and charge up.

Being a heavy smoker I'd suggest a variable volt. The ego-V is small VV battery with USB pass through. They are not the cheapest but will get you through nicely until you buy a bigger mod down the road.

A DCT carto tank is pretty painless, I have one and use it all the time when not fussing with clearos or RBA's. it's not the greatest thing in the world, but it tastes food and its consistent.

I would not recommend buying any Dekang liquid either.

Hi,

Generally speaking, e-Cigs those which resemble an "actual cigarette" is the preferred choice with most smokers trying to quit. Basically due to its familiarity and ease of use. The fact remains that most, present day, veteran vapers had begun that way too. And if u chose the right "Cig-a-Like" e-Cig u could definitely QUIT. I did, in one go.

(1) Everything e-Cig would require "refilling" something. And that shouldn't deter us from tossing our cancer-stix off immediately. The e-Cig technology, currently, is divided between 3-piece devices and 2-piece devices:

Essentially, all e-Cigs must have those three parts viz. the Battery (powering unit), an Atomizer (vaporizing unit) and the Cartridge (juice/nicotine holding unit). Some kept it that way, while few bolted the last two (Atomizer & Cartridge) together into one unit and called that a "Cartomizer". I'm sure u r aware of all that by now.

Thus, what u were trying to refer in ur post was to get an e-Cig with a "cartomizer" scenario (two-piece system), rather than the ones which has separate 'atomizer' and 'cartridges'.

Now each has it's advantages and surely, disadvantages as well. It basically boils down to what's one's personal preference/circumstances. However, the factual position is that the 2-piece devises will work-out expensive in the long run AND they do not give a satisfactory vaping experience. U, generally, get less vapour and TH from these systems. While a "tank" system (three-piece device) has a more free-flowing juice delivery in place, which in turn, gives out better vapour & TH and thus a more satisfying vaping experience. I prefer the 3-piece devices.

(2) Yes, black (or any other color than the standard white) do look cool. And both types of devices come in that color as well. Some mimic the 'red tip', while some offer another color (viz. Green, Blue etc.) and some do not have a LED tip at all. But, all Cig-a-Likes will have that 'flash-tip', while the APVs wont. Incidentally, the better Cig-a-Likes, which have good build quality and gives out nice vaping satisfaction, do not [usually] come in a 'red-tip' and chose other colors to give it a different look/experience. Nonetheless, buying one with a 'flash-tip' shouldn't be a deal-breaker for the new vaper. B'coz, going advanced (with Mods) initially might pose further challenges, IMHO. And that might make our 'quitting' outrightly a tad difficult.

(3) EGos r definitely the least cumbersome of e-Cigs out there. And thus a good starting choice for the new vaper. However, they r essentially 3-piece devices. There's a reason to that, as I stated earlier - aka Better vaping experience. And they r 2nd generation e-Cigs - aka "pen style", rather than being Cig-a-Like. Joyetech is a leader in these systems. And offer various products that could surely keep us off the stinkies.

To make matters simpler, Joyetech also came out with a "tank-system" Cig-a-Like, the eRoll, around end-of-2012. Which has "changed" the Cig-a-Like scenario. It has the same form-factor, but vapes exceptionally well... just like a Mod. And that's something which was long awaited in that segment. To further the looks department -- it's "tip" isn't Red, but BLUE. And it isn't a cigarette-like tip, but a Golden one with a Blue Ring... which looks definitely great! Moreover, to ur liking, this e-Cig also comes in Black color (which I have) and comes in Brushed Steel (I've ordered one) and off course White. U may like to click the link at my signature to read my review on the eRoll.

Whatever u choose, being smoke free must be ur priority one. And do so soon enough... ur health clock is ticking!

And Welcome to ECF.

Hi and welcome to ECF. Prolly your best bet in regards to Vendors is to go to the Australia - New Zealand Forum After 5 posts wait 1 hr for the ECF servers to reset and you'll be able to post outside this forum.

From the infomation provided from this page I think the eGo is my preferred however, when searching for a distributor of the eGo, I find the eGo-C and eGo-T, both of which seem to require refilling tanks/cartridges. Those are the outdated "tank" system using cartridges+ atomizers- prone to leakage.
Realize "eGo" is a class/ style of PV.
JoyTech eGo fires at 3.3 volts
JoyTech eGo C Upgrade fires at 3.3 or 3,7 volts.
Kgo fires at 3.7 volts
Smok Tek eGo fires at 3.7 volts.
All the above PVs are manufactured by large and reputable companies.
Realize also a PV is a battery + a delivery device (holds and vaporizes the juice).

Different delivery systems:- note bolded Atty, Carto, etc is the abbreviated form:

Atomizer/ Atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped- usually used for testing new juices because Attys are easy to clean. There are some diehard Atty users because it’s the best vape possible but very time consuming.

Cartridge/ Cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the Atty- juice drips on to Atty from filled cart and is vaporized- older outdated first “tank” system and prone to leaks unless the user is willing to buy extra seals and “fiddle” with them.

Cartomizer/ Carto- metal tube with stuffing and element. Holds anywhere form 1- 4 ml of juice. Carto is fully saturated and must be occasionally refilled when juice runs out. My Cartos last 1-2 weeks. Best Cartomizer I’ve found is the Smok Tech XL 1.7 single coil. Boge 2.0 ohm cartos will give a cooler vape. Always use single coil cartos with 3.3- 3.7 PVs for the best vape.

Carto+Tank- a Carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates Carto by way of hole in Carto. My Cartos with a tank last, before tight draw occurs: light juices- 80-90 ml. dark juices- 50-60 ml.

Clearomizer (includes the Stardust and the Vivi Nova Tank)- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing. The rebuildable clearos come with heads (coil+ wick) that can be cheaply (2.00) and easily replaced. When the head burns out simply unscrew the old head out and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. My Mini Vivi Nova heads are lasting about 10+ weeks BUT I wash the heads every few days. I've found the Vivi Nova to give the best draw. If buying the Mini Vivi Nova make absolutely sure it's the Vision brand- knockoffs are problematic.

When I first began vaping I used Boge 2.0 ohm single coil cartos (1 ml). After 1 month I switched to Smok Tech XL 1.7 single coil cartos (1.8 ml). Next I used a carto+and tank (3ml) setup. When the cracking and wicking issues were resolved I got into Stardusts (1.6 ml). I've been using the Vision Mini Vivi Nova (2.0 ml) rebuildables for 6+ months as I feel they give a better draw and are far superior in quality. It is VERY important to match the correct ohms delivery device to the PV we are using otherwise, dry hits or a weak vape will occur.

I felt the same way about refilling and wanted to stick with disposables. Problem is that you are limited on flavors and quality. Nothing worse than getting 5 carto's and 2 being empty and 1 having a bunk atomizer. Started refilling this week and it can be a pain but WOW the flavor and the smoke are amazing! This is what has helped my give up analogs not the disposable stuff that would piss me off and make me go buy a pack of smokes.

Sounds like you'd prefer the "prefilled cartomizers" (also sometimes called "prefilled cartridges"). They're the "all in one" version. The atomizer is built in and the juice is already in the cartomizer. You just screw it on the battery and go.

I believe (somebody can check me on this) the eGo is 510 threaded. So you should be able to use just about any 510 threaded, prefilled cartomizers out there.

That "510" is one of the things to figure out. It's a standard. One of a few. The 510 is one that's pretty widespread. I've pieced together my "kit" on my own sticking to the 510 standard. Bought different parts from different vendors and can swap things around all I need.

Also, there's an Australia/New Zealand section on ECF. Heh, there's even a thread started by somebody else from Perth.

I believe you have to post five times total here in New Members before you can post elsewhere. It's a trap for spammers. But you should be already able to read the Aussie/Kiwi forum at least.

(Okay, now that I've noticed there's such a section here, I must resist the temptation to run over there, yell "Go the All Blacks!" and run away.)

(As the great Bugs always said, ain't I a stinker?)
