I started about 2 weeks ago. Got my first setup at a bm. A chi you clone mech mod with a vt4 batt and kayfun clone. A few days later I picked up a king copper clone with another kayfun clone. I like them both. I've played with building coils and honestly i'm pretty decent at it. Have done coils as low as .5 and as high as 1.8. I had a few questions.

1. I've tried drip atty's before (tobh clone and a real one) and didn't like it. I felt it was too "airy". I like the draw on the kayfuns. Is the rm2 "airy" as well? The only way I could prevent the tobh from being airy was to physically hold a finger on the vent holes.

2. What are the recommended/popular atty's currently being used? I do prefer a single coil since its less work but dont mind doing a dual if its a better atty.

3. I have a few 1860 sony vt4/5's. Will they work fine? I noticed a lot of people like the aw batts with the nipple

4. Just a curiosity question. About how many "hits" does it take to change flavors with changing the bottle? My biggest gripe with the kayfuns is the lack of ability to switch flavors

I'm sure I'll have more questions and I've been reading the posts. Thanks everybody! Just fyi today I only had 5 analogs. Normally almost 1 PAD. Gotta say, I love this vaping. I really get into hobbies, and honestly enjoy the tinkering and buying aspects of it, and vaping has been no different. Heck my order from xtar for the vp2 (at home) the sp1 (travel) and mc1 (car) chargers came in today and I love them! :D

Hi and welcome! I'll do my best to answer some questions.

1. Some people think the RM2 is too tight of a draw and drill it out. I think it is perfect for me.
2. RM2 is the most popular on a Reo atm I think.
3. I hear those will work fine, but I use the AW 18650 1600mah.
4. It will take a few to get the taste to change I think. I've been using the same flavor for about 3 years and recently started mixing large amounts of unflavored in. It's been awhile for me, ymmv.

Any other questions you have, go ahead and ask away. We are here to help.

I find the RM2 too tight. I have mine drilled out to 1/16. These attys are bottom fed and work on Reos. It is a single coil atty and produces great amounts of flavor.
I use VTC5s mostly. Great batteries. Many swear by the AW IMR 18650 1600maH. They actually have a higher discharge capacity than the 2000maH IMRs. I have a couple of the 2000, but still don't exceed 70% of their capacity.
Changing flavors in a Reo is easy! If it's a radically different flavor, pull the bottle and atty, run a little warm water into the tube to clear as much excess old juice and you can blow thru the tube to clear the 510. Pull the wick, rinse the RM2, dry off. Reattach to Reo or another mod and dry burn the coil to clean. Re-wick, reattach to Reo. Apply a bottle filled with new juice. Battery in, door on, squonk, let sit a second or two for the wick to saturate, and vape away!

Sounds like a lot of steps, but I can change out flavors in 5 minutes or less. With flavors that compliment or are not super different, just change out to another bottle with your new juice. It won't take long before the new flavor becomes completely dominant.

Anything else, let us know!

Hey there :). I know nothing about changing flavors but I can tell you that an RM2 is a fantastic atty from a building and vaping standpoint.

If you want similar vaping and building characteristics, you can step up to a vicious ant cyclone. They are all SS. But you will pay more for the cyclone.

Also remember if you get a LP REO ( which I highly recommend unless cartos are in your routine) and want an RM2, get a LP RM2 as a standard RM2 will look doofy on there with the exposed brass milling visible. If you get a standard REO, get a standard RM2 because a LP RM2 won't screw down on a standard REO.

Oh, and add a couple of springs for metal REOs to your cart. If there is ever a short, the spring will melt ( to protect you ) and you'll be without your REO until you get a replacement spring.

I've never shorted one yet but have several springs as insurance. :)

Here's a vid on a REO grand :)

I hear you on the "too airy" front. I tried RDA's and direct lung draws (really what many of them are built for), but it just wasn't for me.

I also used Kayfuns for a long while, so I know the feel you're looking for.

My recommendation would be either the RM2 or RM3 from the Reo site. The stock draw is quite similar to the Kayfun with the AFC at about medium.

The RM2 is a great platform for single coils - very easy to build on, good vapor, great (and I mean great) flavour). The RM3 is available in either a single or dual coil version, and I can vouch for the dual version - it's like an RM2 x 2, IMHO. Huge flavour, bigger vapor, just as easy to build on and maintain.

As has been said, I'd suggest an LP Reo to give you the most future options - you'd need the LP version of the RM2, and the RM3 works just fine.

Also, the RM4 would probably be heading too far into 'airy RDA' territory for you, although it's a great atty and others might want to debate me on that.

Consider an adjustable airflow atty. The RM4 can be adjusted to give a very tight draw all the way up what would be considered airy for most. It also allows you to chose single coil or dual coil. It looks great on a Reo, you need the LP Reo for it. It is versatile and allows you room to grow as a vaper only if or when you want to.

Say guys, that's very good information to have. I did receive an LP Mini 2.1 but I ordered the wrong RM so it's on the way back to Rob now. I want a 2nd atty so it sounds like I might like the RM4. I'd like an atty I can do both single and dual coils on, although I'm usually a single-minded person. :) Thanks for your help. Oh...does the LP RM4 look exactly like the LP RM2 or not? I'll take another look on the site but the LR RM's all look much alike as I recall. Okay...the LP RM4 does look different, and a little taller?

Thanks super! I thought there might also be a tiny spring in the switch mechanism too. I'm amazed...what does a collapsed spring look like? (Don't just say it looks like a spring that's collapsed!) :)

Here is one along side a uncollapsed one

Hello and Welcome! I loved my journey to Reos. Loved every one of my awesome rigs from my first e-twist to my ProVari but when I got my first Reo, built that coil and fired her up - nothing else compared. I promptly sold off 99% of my previous vaping gear but being the skeptic I am, I did hold in reserve one Provari/Kayfun that has since been gifted away to a new vaping recruit!

1. & 2. You sound like a RM2/Cyclone kinda soul...Single coil with the stock air hole is good for some, small, plenty of vapor and the flavor taste is incredible! I have since drilled the air hole out 1/16 on all of my RM2 and Cyclones though because I'm a lungernaut - meaning I lung inhale as opposed to mouth-to-lung - and I need a bit more air in my draw but I don't like sacrificing flavor so I had to shorten my inhale time ><
I coil a 28g Kanthal about 1.1 to 1.2 on an Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo Deluxe Econo Winder | Shop Hobby Lobby - Best thing EVAR!

3. Batteries I use are AW IMR Authentic AW Batteries - RTD Vapor - Great place to buy

4. I change flavor constantly but also just recently got into DIY (do_it yourself flavor mixing) so I have a base and add flavors I like to it - I also use rayon for wicking Graham Sanek CelluCotton 100% Cotton Coil - so changing flavors, as long as they are not junking up your coil and wick, will only take a few of what I call "flavor burns" - this is where I load up the new flavor, fire the button while puffing like you're lighting a cigar (this draws the left over flavor out of your wick) and then squonk new flavor in while still puffing/blowing out. Do this a few times till you taste the new flavor. Voila!

Hope any of this helped and not confused! Ask away any questions - I'm still learning too!

MsLoud, I think the Cyclone may be more than I could handle. I am damaged...and cannot inhale much, and sure can't do the lung hits. Not that I wouldn't like to. Much of the time I inhale thru my nose as I'm drawing the vapor into my mouth, then exhale the vapor thru my nose and mouth. I'm sure some touches my lungs but I'm trying to keep it to a minimum. So, would the LP RM4 not be enough for me, if I should decide to do a double-coil, but can still build the singles on it? Or would the LP RM3 suffice for that?

I enjoyed your post. Just keep sharing your thoughts, it's fun. :)

Unfortunately I haven't tried any other RMs to date. I don't do dual coils any more since using the RM2 - others swear by them so hopefully they will chime in with their suggestions :)

Also remember...the more air you get the more it can and will effect your flavor (flavor goes down with more air intake) but some vape unflavored or high VG so it may not concern them.

I didn't know that but it makes sense. I don't like a real airy draw. I guess I just like it medium.

I need to order the 2nd LP RM by Tuesday so the order can coincide with Rob receiving my wrong RM2 (w/o the LP). I just need a few more opinions on the other LP RM's...3,4, 5. Some have chimed in on other threads and that helped but I'd like a few more.

I also asked if there was a Reo-anomyous help-group somewhere around here. Nobody answered so what I fear happened. I'm prolly adding another Reo to my order too.

I guess I'll clarify my statement about air flow and flavor...

More air means you need to lower your Ohms - sub-ohm - to increase the vapor and flavor. I can build a .3 ohm coil and throw on one of my AFC (airflow control - opened wide on my cyclone) top caps and get decent flavor and a hellava more vapor but I started asking myself...why?

I'm not in a cloud blowing competition. I'm vaping for the enjoyment and my enjoyment comes from the flavor - vapor is secondary to me.

That's what lead me to MY perfect vape setup - single coil 1.2 Rm2 or Cyclone(purely aesthetics). Everyone needs to find their own happy place. :)

And we do tend to want something more...and better. But actually right now I couldn't be happier with the Mods and ejuices and powerful vapes I have. I have several Sofia attys I can rebuild single-coil to 1.8 ohms (my sweet spot) and no more buying attys and cartos. So I'm as happy as can be. But I do gaze around at the new stuff, just for fun. I don't 'need' more flavor or vapor or another Mod. And this is so far from where I was starting out in Sept of 2009 with my little 510 cig-a-likes, working non-stop to switch out the filler or trying to find a better filler material, blowing out attys, etc. I think the next big thing was about 6 months later...the eGo, and what a powerful jump from that puny little 510 that was!

Boy have things in the ecig world come a long way in a short time. And although I'm contented now, I'm also interested in seeing just what they'll do next. I mean, the DNA is already starting to wear off, no?

I don't know what they could possibly do to make things better other than making one of those little 510 ecigs that vapes as powerfully as the best Mod out there today. :)

Wow. Thanks everybody for the helpful advice. Honestly I do not care at all for "clouds". I would give up 100% of the cloud for 1% more flavor (if everything else was equal). And Papa_Lazarou, i'm glad your experience was similar to mine. Would you say the rm3 has more flavor than the rm2? I am leaning towards the rm2 just because I like the "tighter" draw to simulate an analog and it is easier to build a single coil but am not against doing a dual coil. Will most likely place an order this week!
