Katya! Can you explain "why" in a way that doesn't make me sleepy? :D

I can try.

Because I say so.

Seriously, 1.8Ω coils are not necessary if you own a vv battery, and some of those LR coils can be tricky, especially if their resistance is lower than the stated 1.8Ω, which happens often--I've gotten 1.8Ω coils in the past that metered out at 1.5Ω; they also may vape harsher than 2.0-2.4Ω coils. For new users, above-2.0Ω coils are preferred.

If you're not asleep yet, you may want to read this thread. ;)

I got the info on that kit from Katya a few nights ago. She should get the kudos for a great find.

Not really--somebody showed that kit to me, at some point--it's been widely recommended by many on these boards for quite a while. It's a great kit. I'm surprised that other vendors don't put similar kits together for new vapers.

Okay. Soooooo... with a NON VV battery, it is okay to use the LR? I am asking because I have both kinds, and I have the 3 heads that came with the Vivi Nova kits. The way I originally read the chart (about one month ago) was thus: the lower the battery output, the lower the ohms should be. Getting sleepy just writing about ohms. Reminds me of college Physics. snooze

Yup, The good old Ohm's law. Here's a calculator if you don't want to the math.

http://www.onlineconversion.com/ohms_law.htm

In a nutshell: you need to find your ideal wattage; for most people, it's somewhere between 4.5-8.5 Watts. Wattage is the heat (power) your PV generates.

Wattage = voltage (of your battery) squared divided by resistance (of your atomizer).

It all depends on your personal preference and ejuices that you use--tobaccos and coffees like it hotter, fruit and other delicate flavors don't tolerate too much heat.

With old eGos (3.3v regulated) LR coils were a necessity. VV changed it all. I like 1.8-2.2Ω coils on my non-vv eGos.

As always, YMMV. :D

You should know by now that I don't pay any attention to charts. When I got my first vivi nova all I had were standard Joye eGos and no ECF. I used all of the heads. I dint blowed up or nuffin'.
