Norcross (GA) City Council unanimously rescinds outdoor no-tobacco-use ordinance after constituents voice opposition
Norcross repeals city wide smoking ban - CBS Atlanta 46
Don't know if this ordinance included e-cigarettes, but its nice to see a group of constituents rising up to and convincing their City Council representatives to rescind an unwarranted and unenforceable law.
Although I've long advocated banning outdoor smoking at locations where many people congregate (e.g. sports stadiums, public transportation shelters, restaurant patios), within 10 feet of building entrances, and at schools, day care centers and childrens playgrounds, there is no justification for laws banning smoking on all outdoor government owned property or on private property where exposure to secondhand smoke is nonexistant or miniscule.
There's also no public health justification, and many constitutional concerns, for laws that ban the use of smokefree tobacco/nicotine products either indoors or outdoors.
