When I build on my rba and wick it everything seems fine. After a couple pulls I notice a bit of a "choppy" air draw (don't know how else to describe it) and have to draw harder to get a decent hit. Wondering if that's because I'm not using enough cotton? I get so worried about adding to much that I wonder if I'm adding to little.

Could you coil be too high up and blocking the upper chimney?
I had that issue with 3 mm coils in mine. Had to move them a bit lower.
The way I wick mine are to thread the wick up thru the coil housing with the top removed.
The cut the wicks maybe 2 mm or so above the top of the coil housing.
Push the wick ends down into each side making sure the holes are well covered on the inside by the wick.
Prime the wick a bit and then reassemble the atty.

I always make sure it's a couple mm's from the deck. Maybe I just have to keep tweaking till I get it right.

I takes a little Trial n' Error to find what the Sweet Spot is for a given Atomizer. And Small Changes can sometimes have Very Noticeable Effects.

That goes for the Size of the Drip Tip also. Amazing how a Very Small Increase/Decrease in the Inside Diameter of a Drip Tip can effect the hit you get.

This could be True Also.

There's kinda a Goldie Locks Zone of how High/Low a given diameter Coil can sit.
