Hey all,

I've been a member here for about six months. I started vaping and 5 days later I had an anxiety attack. Even though I have ans anxiety disorder, I blamed it all on the e-cig and went directly back to analogs. So here I am trying to quit again. I have one analog left and I'm not buying anymore.

If you have any helpful tips to stay off the analogs that would be great.
If there is anyone else out there battling anxiety as well as quitting the nasties, I'd love to hear from you!

TIA
Sam

Hello, I'd say to not worry about how much you vape, any time you think about having a cig just vape, even if it means your vaping 24/7 at first. I'd probably lower your nic level considerably considering the anxiety situation, may be wise to lower caffeine intake also. Welcome and good luck.

Thanks!! I'm already at low caffeine. I cant have much because of the meds that I'm on. I have a couple glasses of tea or coffee every once in a while.

As far as nic level i was smoking a pack a day. I understand using the lower nic if I'm going to vape constantly but so far I'm using it like an analog. Hopefully that works for me. I'm using 11-16mg nic. it just depends on the flavor because I bought most of my juice 6 months ago.

Thanks Again

Have you actually found that the nic induces an anxiety attack or is it from other issues?
Since a cig has more nic in it than vaping using 24mg {allegedly} perhaps vaping isn't the real culprit I mean maybe vaping has nothing to do with it for you?
I started out by substituting taking a few vapes on my eGo every time I wanted a cigarette and quickly found that I had accidentally stopped smoking in 3 days!
I had no intentions of giving up my 3 pack a day habit to Kools but that was exactly what happened!
Truly, I just wanted to cut down to a pack a day so no one was more shocked than I was when I tried to smoke a Kool and gagged on the first drag. I threw it away.
It was the end of my smoking habit for me and that was 19 months ago!
I also use Klonopin mostly to sleep or for anxiety on the rare occasions but I have found that WTA juice has helped me tremendously for anxiety attacks rare though they are for me!
I do know of quite a few members here who use it for quelling anxiety.

One of the problems is nicotines effects on the body. It causes vasoconstriction. When your vessels constrict that decreases the blood flow throughout your body. The bodies response to fix this is to increase your heart rate. Increased heart rate in constricted vessels increases blood pressure. Increased heart rate and increased blood pressure = feeling panicky. Even without an underlying panic disorder. Might talk to ur dr. Meds such as lopressor can also help with panic attacks as they decrease that panicky feeling from the increased heart rate and blood pressure.

I don't know if its actually from other issues. It's very random esp right now. I'm pretty sure it's not from the nic. I smoked a pack a day and it doesn't make sense to me that the nic itself would be causing anxiety. Like I said I chickened out last time. I wasn't able to say whether it was "fate" for me to have me or if it was the nic. It took 5 days after quitting analogs for me to have that horrible attack so I'm really not thinking it was the e-cig.

I just don't no what to expect. I had my anxiety under control or at least much better, then the dr added a med and I'm having them every couple of days anyways. Dr. wants to ride it out and see if it starts working. I know e-cigs and quitting in general can make attacks more frequent, so how do I tell? I've had 9 attacks in the last 17 days. Before that I hadn't had any in 18 days.

Does anyone know of any Anxiety/E-cig Forums?

That definitely an idea. I didn't always have problems. Even the last couple of months they were starting to get better. Would the Lopressor script be used until I was off the nic generally?

Ya it sounds more likely a poorly controlled panic disorder rather than a nicotine problem. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder years ago. Lexapro fixed me though. I'm also a registered nurse so medically speaking you're getting a professional opinion. Definitely something to discuss with your dr only they can decide what treatment will be appropriate for you.
