Hi ceejay! Some people do experience a breaking in period, maybe about a week or so? I have the 901 and didn't experience this...BUT, and this is kind of dorky of me: I kept wondering why I wasn't getting anything out of mine, then discovered that my fingers were covering the hole on the atomizer! I was used to smoking my penstlye models, which don't have those holes. I bought a 901 kit from litecig that had two atomizers, and one of them did turn out to be DOA. It was just cold, never heated up at all. I emailed him to let him know and he's going to send me a new one, which is cool.

There are a variety of factors that go into vapor production. Generally, one or two 'primer' puffs seem to be needed to get the atomizer pre-heated and the 'juices' flowing. If you are an analog smoker, an e-cig really cannot fully copy the throat hit and smoke volume you might expect. To me, my njoy NCIG pen-style can only seem to replicate a light or ultra-light analog, not the powerful hit I would get from a full strength analog. This is likely why I vape alot.

do i just have a defective product then? perhaps a bad atomizer? it still gets kind of warm but i'm just not getting much vapor...
Put 2 drops of liquid on the atomizer. That will help. You can also hold your finger over the hole in the atomizer for just a second as you draw in and then take your finger off and continue to draw as you usually would. See if that makes a difference.

where should i put the drops? the hole where it connects to the battery or where it leads to the cartridge?

The opening where it connects to the cartridge. Don't do it too much, however, or you could flood the atomizer. If that would happen, take the atomizer off, put the cartridge side down on a paper towel and blow into it to get the excess juice out. You just don't want the juice to get to the battery.
