I'm not a person who experiments in the kitchen and I suspect that my DYI experience will follow a similar thread. I have always followed a recipe, while I'm not quite ready to take on DYI I am starting the research to understand the process, tools and language. Thank god for the internet! My question is in the form of a statement, why reinvent the wheel, at least in the beginning. Are newbie DIYers told that there are recipes out there for thousands of different flavours? I am a fruit flavor guy and I am vaping Strawberry/Lemonade as I write this post, so I checked the web for that flavour combo and there were many to choose from. The initial process would be so much easier and productive if in the beginning one just followed a recipe.

if this has been discussed to death I apologize.:)

No need apologize. :D

A few weeks into vaping I tried a basic DIY recipe it was such a disaster I didn't try DIY again for over a year.

I revisited the idea of DIY again because I liked the idea of saving a little money and just the convenience of being able to whip up a batch of liquid when I needed it instead of sending for it, getting it, hating it,etc. etc. So, I tried it again.

I started out very simply at first- I bought a nicotine base very close to what I was vaping, some PG & VG and bought some premixed flavorings so I didn't have to try or come up with recipes. After doing that for awhile, I got more adventurous.
I still probably buy 40-50% and make the rest.

But we do have a DIY section with tons of recipes and very helpful people that'd be more than happy to help get you started.

DIY E-Liquid

Thanks for the advise, I think I will certainly follow your example, starting off simply to get my feet wet and comfortable.
