Not satisfied with the 901, what should I try next?

I am not sure if I bought a fake or what, but I bought it from widowsbeadwork and am definitely not getting good vapor production. Now I am looking for something really good, that I can refill with e-juice myself.

Are there any ultimate recommendations, price is not an issue. I just want to buy one and be done. Buy a bunch of extra atomizers and batteries as well. Will probably go with some extra johnson creek e-juice as it seems most are happy with it.

Try a DSE801 pen style. I hear good things about the M401 series, but I have not tried them personally.

I want to place an order and make sure I'm good for 6 months. 1 pack a day smoker.
Usually smoking menthol light cigs.. how much e-juice will I need for 6 months,... and how many extra atomizers and batteries to be safe?

Given that most people seem to have a positive experience with the 901 (myself included) I would say there's a pretty good chance that you just got a bad one or a faulty atomiser or something.

I would have to 2nd the 801 pen. longer battery life, but I do like my lady pipe, better throat hit.

as far as extras, I have about 10 atomizers and 10 batteries for my pen and 3 of each for my pipe and 901. I have 3 atties die in one day and 2 others were DOA, up to you how much you want to have on hand. Same for juice really.

I recommend a 510 manual style like the Dura-C or Joye. It'll vape for as long as you hold down the button.

I only throw this out because I haven't seen any generally negative reports about the products widowsbeadswork sells, plus the 901 is generally well liked, plus we have seen many posts from people really just needing to get the hang of using ecigs when first starting out. Dragging on an ecig, for example, is really different from dragging on a cigarette.

If you have already, and feel pretty confident in your technique with yours, would you want to lay out in a little more detail the problem(s) you are having, and perhaps some 901 users could help you out with troubleshooting?

I would recommend the 510 from Jason @ electronicstix.com His service and fast shipping are the best. Three days max on shipping from the west coast to the east coast, most times in two days. Get the 510 and you will put the 901 where it belongs, in the trash. Just my opinon, but I have not had any luck with 901's. The 510 just blows the 901 away. I can't believe all the hype on here about the 901. I guess they're just not for me.

Yvilla, I think you misunderstood me or quoted my post by mistake. I was suggesting to OP that 901's are generally well regarded and so OP's report that they were not getting good vape production does not sound like a 901 that is functioning properly. Hence my suggestion that the particular unit OP got may be have been defective in some way.

A note on quantities. Everyone's different but the average seems to be around 2ml liquid per day. Your best bet is to buy high strength 36mg nicotine and dilute with PG or VG to stretch it out - you can add your own flavouring to stop it tasting weak. After that it's all down to a little math.

Say you like vaping 8mg strength and get through 14ml a week. Rounding off wildly that gives 60ml a month. Get the 36mg liquid and dilute 1:3 with PG plus a little flavouring to make the right strength.

That works out to roughly 120ml of 36mg and 500ml of PG lasting you 6 months.

Those figures are very rough, but should give you an idea of the sort of quantities you're talking about. I think there's a spreadsheet out there somewhere which you can use to get more accurate.

Edit: Should have said I was trying to err on the side of ordering too much. There's a big safety cushion built into those figures.

Does the DSE901 come with the look and feel of real cigarette. I saw a red dragon that someone bought and it is awesome.

My first e-cig was 801 type -- it was mainly due to comments on the forum that it was a good starter e-cig. I liked it just fine until I tried 901 two days ago. I like the 901 so much better! The vapor is much stronger and you can always feel the throat hit. Compared to the 901, the 801 penstyle feels like smoking through a straw. I tried several 801 atomizers and they all felt too easy to drag at first and progressively got more and more difficult until it was really hard to get any vapor. The 901 is also easy to drag from, but it just doesn't feel like sucking from a straw. This may change after the atomizer gets bit more use, but so far I am loving the 901.

I just ordered a manual-switch Yeti, so I'll be comparing it to 901 when it comes.

I am not sure where to order the secondson2929 mod mentioned in the above post, but would love to try it, especially if the Yeti doesn't live up to its promise. Can someone point me to the website please for the mod?

Thanks, that looks promising. I'll probably get one of those for my mom.
Now for myself it seems like one of those modded ones will be really cool. I personally don't care what it looks like as long as its reliable and functions well.
