I want to put an adapter to Use a 801 battery with my 510 atomizer.. Is this safe or does it damage the battery? Like everyone else I hate changing the batteries soooo much. any thoughts? Or advice, or anyone who has done this???

I don't see any problem here. While not exactly the same I've used a 510 adapter on an 801 janty stick with no problem. The battery is still 3.7 volt and while the resistance of the 510 atty is different from the 801, it also runs on 3.7 Volts.

It is perfectly safe, however your best bet if you want to use the tiny cigarette-looking batteries is to get ahold of some of the manual button mega-batteries, I think they are up to 350 or 400 mAh these days. 510s draw more current than 801s, and while the 'stock' batteries are identical except for the difference in connectors, the 510 really wants a larger battery or you'll be married to your charger and/or PCC.

Feel free to use any batteries you have on hand until they die though, they won't be any more dangerous than they would be using the atomizer they are fitted for from the factory.

Stealth Edit: If you hate changing batteries, you need to get over the 'looks like a cigarette' factor and upgrade to a mod that uses a big battery. There are several mods available for under $100 that will give you 1-3 days per charge. Off the top of my head you've got the Chuck, Silver Bullet, and Xhaler - the first two use a 2500mAh 18650 li-ion (which cost <$10 each and last months), the latter uses an 1800mAh 17670, which is also pretty cheap compared to spending $12 per ecig battery and having them go a few weeks before they won't hold enough of a charge to keep you happy. There is currently absolutely no way to retain the cigarette style and have a long-lasting battery at the same time.
