Now that I have a nice pass-through for my mini, I have a nice idea to try for fun. I will be building a 12v pass-through to be used with a 5ohm cart for 29 watts of power! An AC adapter can be had for $3 on amazon, and a couple 5ohm carts should be about $3 also.

Should be a fun experiment. Hopefully I dont like it TOO much!

It may be a lot of voltage, but using a 5 ohm cart will keep the amperage draw to about 2.4A, pretty much about what most LR setups draw. This is all in theory, it looks like it should work on paper, but who knows.

I just remembered I have a good 14v power supply from my RC days. This would equal 39 watts at 5 ohms.

It will either pop instantly or put me in a vape coma. Either way I dont care, I just want to try it!

Like a champ. This regulator is a workhorse. Check out the specs on it. It operates at like 93% efficiency, which will shorten battery life by a little bit compared to more efficient regulators, but with a passthrough it doesn't matter. The ones that ship from hong kong have a surprisingly short shipping time of 10 to 14 days. And at 3 bucks a pop you can't beat it! I have run 2 ohm cartomizers on it at 6.4 volts, which is a really nice vape if you are insane like me and keep the carto soaked.

Just got my 5ohm carts today.

The reason Im doing this is I see a trend. Many people are moving away from LR/3.7 in favor of SR/High Voltage.

I figure why not just take the highest resistance cart out there (AFAIK) and combine it with a proportional voltage and see what the outcome is!

14v @ 5ohms = 40 watts, but only 2.8 amps.

I just couldnt help it. I went a wired up my 14v power supply and 5ohm cart. I prefilled it all the way to make sure it wouldnt burn up instantly...........then I pressed the button....

Words........on a screen........cannot describe.......how incredibly awesome........this mod is........PERIOD.

The flavor.....10......the vapor.......10.......the heat.....10.

Everything about this is amazing on every level!

The sizzle is instant and extremely intense. Long draws are no longer needed. I get huge clouds in half a second, with intense flavor that is unmatched. I have yet to hold the button longer than 1 sec for fear of it popping. Remember, I started using this only 5 min ago. I tried "pulsing" the button as I vape and it works well, but not really needed. There is so much instant power on tap that its unnecessary to take long drags.

Nothing like a 40w Mini!

I foresee a large order of 5ohm carts in the future!

On second thought, I realized that 14v is just too much. Sure, the insane vape is awesome, but (never thought I would say this) its just too much power!

I need something a little more tame. Im thinking 12v would be perfect. This would be 29w instead of 40w. The way the math works, 10v would be 20w, and 5v would be 5w. Its not linear, so 2v actually makes a big difference.

There are many 12v supplies out there, but not so many 10v.

I want to try that regulator, but at this point I dont really see it as necessary. I believe 12v will be key...
