Not "that" Newbie but one difficult question

Hi there,

I´m on the e-cig´s (don´t really like this word because they´ve got nothing to do with real cigs, anyway) since the beginning of this year. And I must say, I LOVE IT. I tried loads of different things by now and I´d say I´m well equipped with vaping stuff now. (some say that I´m possessed by this, yeah right... )

About me, I live in Berlin atm (Germany, for those how not know) and studying some sort of energy engineering.
So far about myselfe

Now, the difficult question, how do I get my girlfriend to vape?? Did anyone already tried to get his/her (equality) girlfriend to vape? Tried loads of things so far, different styles of e-cigs loads of different juices... well, she still smokes normal cigs. Not much (like I did, but still).

do I have to get her a ggts now or what? Handing her a ggts for me it would be like making her a proposal, right.. what do you think?

Hate to say it, but if she dosen't want to vape, anything you buy her would be a waste of money...unless you want one yourself! I personally don't think buying her an expensive mod, that you have to rebuild the atomizer on, is going to help any. In fact I think it would just turn her off even more. I remember when I first started I wanted something that was easy. Have you tried the mini cigs? If that dosen't work, I doubt anything else will either. I'd suggest you keep on vaping yourself, and maybe over time, she'll come around. Don't hassle her too much over it, or you'll come across like someone wanting her to quit smoking, and we all know what that's like. That just turns you off even more to trying!

Hi Welcome and that's a tough one if she is still not interested even though you HAVE tried giving her things. Does she way WHY she does not want to either switch or just does not seem to like vaping..? Makes a difference. That may not do it either. I would give a bit more info on what her feedback has been. Then maybe I could help more. Meanwhile this place is FULL of wonderful and helpful people and I am sure some will come to try and help you..and GOOD LUCK it sure would be a fabulous thing if she does! will be hoping for you..take good care...*

the best way to get anyone to start vaping is to give them something to try and tell them the price of a 2 packs of cigarettes is $ and a thing of e liquid is $ in the long run you will be saving anywhere from $-$$ a month and you will be saving you lungs

Unfortunately, you won't get her too until she's ready to give it a try. She has to WANT to quit smoking...you can't force her or it will be a complete failure.

My girlfriend was instantly interested in it but was kind of like, eh that's nice, until I got some good juices. Now she want's to order her own PV and is increasingly embarrassed about smoking cigarettes because of the smell, bad taste, etc. I'd suggest some flavors from Heather's Heavenly Vapes, their stuff is great. I'm sure there are plenty of good vendors out there, but this is the first I've had a real wow experience from.

thank you a lot for getting back! For sure I´m not trying to hassle her.
I don´t know, sometimes she takes a drag of my one and says it´s tasting nice. Few weeks ago I smuggled one of these 510t in her bag when she went out with her friends. When she was back she said that she tried it and her friends too but at the end she was a bit embarressed to "do it" (not what you might think now ) in public.
She said her friends think that an e-cig is kind of a joke more like a funny smoking gadget.
And I guess you are right Kay. She not really interessted in tech stuff, so a rebuildable would be hell for her!
Ah well, I might to make a proposal to myself and hand me a ggts (once they are in stock)
And I´m not so sure about what you said Dragon. It all starts with this teeny-weeny stuff and then you end up spending loads, doesn´t it?

I was and still at times, a little embarrassed to use in public. Until, it is a common thing many will look at you weird and may even ask about it or yell at you (if your inside somewhere.) I agree, the vape community needs to stray for anything with words like: Smoke, Cig, etc. to stop the labeling of such. Right now, some people think this is a joke to vape. I often hear, "why not do what I did and quit cold turkey" or " they are just like cigarettes and just as bad." To me I take it personal. I enjoy it, it saves me money, it has improved my life, and I am proud to Vape. Funny, every time I type "vape" it's underlined as a misspelled word, even grammar thinks it's a joke. The issue you are having with your GF is, she does not want to quit smoking. I won my wife over by taking her to Carowinds. You can not smoke inside the park, but, I can vape there. So the whole day at the park she had no choice to use my vapor, or, walk ALL THE WAY to the gate, go to parking lot and smoke in car. GL to you, don't give up and VAPE ON!

To vape or not is a personal choice. She now knows there is an alternative to tobacco. You did your job.She will come around to vaping in her own time.

have you considered handcuffs? i was lucky with my wifey she turned me to the light side but am in same position with my son
the daughter in law has embraced vaping but son is half and half about it he will vape and then go outside for a ciggy
only suggestion is make your living space no smoking area if questioned just say "im quitting and i dont need it smelling around me" then offer her a PV while shes with you? may work but as previous posts the more you push the more they will push back

Ahh, lol, good one!! And thanks Icon.. nice story, maybe I need to go to places where you´re not allowed to smoke but vape more often! hihi.
And you are right. Vapers have loads to put up with. I mean, it´s not like I wanted to quit smoking for sure when I first tried it but I noticed the difference quite soon. Well, I stopt the day I started to vape. It was really impressive to me. But, I know, I can´t expect that from someone else!

I would'nt push it, but maybe have her try a different flavor once in a while, if she found a flavor she really liked it might make the difference. And dragon, great idea!! Let us know when you´re ready! I would suggest a new Iphone or similar. otherwise people will stare at you not because it´s "smoking" more like because of using an old mobile from the past century.. hihi

I agree with the other advice in this thread. I didn't quit smoking until I was damn good and ready. Why should anyone else?

Your girlfriend will quit when she's ready. Probably the best thing you can do is to experiment with new juices until you find one that she REALLY likes. That may be what pushes her over the edge.

You mentioned her friends think it's more of a joke, so sounds more like shes influenced by what others think. She has liked a few of the flavors, so how about just talking to her, and suggest she pick out something she would like for use at home. This way she has say in what it is, which does make a difference right there, and then she doesn't feel pushed into using it all the time.

Maybe if she knows she can still smoke when she wants, but have her own pv to use when she won't be embarrassed will help, but have her in on deciding what gets bought for her. One she will be more apt to use it, and 2 will be cheaper for you in the long run, as better she pick out something that may cost more than you buying 4 or 5 different models that she doesn't like and won't touch.

I have been vaping over 4 years now. My husband has been supportive of me from the beginning; however, he does not vape himself. He will try my new e-cig mods when I get them, but he has no desire to vape. He is the type of person who does not care what people think, so I know that is not the reason keeping him from doing it. I keep hoping one day he will change his mind, and I have all the supplies for him, if he chooses to do so. Until then, I will just have to wait and see.

If she was embarrassed using the 510t, the ggts definitely will not get her interested. Sounds like when she is ready, smaller will be the way to go. Find some juice she really likes, and start with baby steps.
