Not to beat a dead horse... Problems with my mini PT 2

I'm very new to the whole vape thing and in the last month I've learned a lot. I'm here because I need HELP!!! I'm horribly dissatisfied with my mini PT 2. My bought my boyfriend a PT 1 and I love his. No issues whatsoever. I've tried a 1.8, 2.2 and a 2.5 coil. I've tried 100 VG and a whole range PG/VG ratio combinations. Not to mention about 15 different flavors, mostly tobacco, couple fruit. My issue is that I can not turn my variable up past 3.8 or I get this nasty dry burnt almost plastic taste. At this point I'm assuming that it's the silica wick (maybe my taste buds are just sensitive) and it might be better to re-build with cotton but honestly I don't have the time. I'm in medical school and I need something that works right and is easy to use. But am I crazy? Neither my vendor or my boyfriend could taste what I taste. My boyfriend and I switched tanks tonight and I'm loving his PT 1. Perfect vapor at 4.1 with a 2.2 coil and a 40/60 blend. I tried his liquid with my tank and his battery and still same awful burnt flavor as he's telling me he can't taste any difference. If I put my liquid back in my tank and turn it up to 3.9 with a 2.5 coil and the nastiness will ensue. I think I'm looking for someone to tell me I'm not crazy and that there really is something wrong with my tank. Yes I take longer drags but I give my coil time to cool and refill and I can't even come close to replicating my problem with my boyfriend's PT 1. Yes I keep it at least 1/3 full at all times. I don't know what else could possibly be wrong. I have a Vision spinner 1100 mAh... I don't know what else to add... anyway I'm looking for an alternative. I don't want the bulkiness of the PT 1 but I would like to keep the pyrex. Something around the same size as the PT 2. I would prefer to keep a metal drip tip as well it doesn't have to be detachable though. I not opposed to trying something new but I just don't want to sacrifice quality. Sorry for the long post but like I said I need help. I've been looking for the last 2 days and I just don't know what I'm looking at. Any input would help. Thank you everybody!
