I'm going to do my obligatory newbie hootin' and hollerin' here.

I don't know if my signature shows yet, I got one of those counter thingies... it's hard to believe I'm in my 6th day not smoking. Finally, something that's working. I've tried cold turkey, gum, patches, and drugs... quit for up to a few months at a time but it never really stuck. Now for the very first time in 25 years I don't even want a cigarette, not even when drinking, not even when hanging out with smokers, not even after coffee.

I've had maybe two or three moments of wanting one, but 30 seconds with my PVs and it's gone again. Smokers are starting to smell bad as soon as they get anywhere near. I'm re-washing clean clothes as I go along because they smell like stale smoke, and I almost never even smoked inside; when I did it was next to a window with a fan sucking out the smoke. When I run up a flight of stairs, or waking up after a night out, I already feel 10 times lighter than before. My mouth is always clean and fresh!

The counter might not even show all I've saved, because I've been studying and going out a lot recently, and those are the times I could end up inhaling a whole pack in a few hours. Even at that conservative estimate, and having bought overpriced equipment and unnecessary flavors I don't like, I'll recover my investment and start actually saving money in about 2 months. PV and everything included was less expensive than the patches or especially the drugs were. Buying new equipment by then will be very easy to justify. Even if I didn't save any money at all, or spent more than on smoking, this would be well worth it!

All the smiles and good attention I'm getting in real life don't hurt at all, either. Fingering and sucking a bright blue light that freshens the air is a great conversation starter LOL. Even the smokers who love it and don't want to quit are either congratulating or only jokingly making fun. And not least, no more trying to find a miserable spot outside in driving rain and icy wind that's far enough away from any doorway to be legal- except when I do it with smoking friends for moral support.

I wish I hadn't waited so long!

Hey thank all--

You're doing great! Way to go. Tell us what you're using so other new vapers might use it .

Well, I'll tell you but can't exactly recommend it. I got the V2 travel kit, but then right after ordering I found out from reading around here that I paid too much for just-OK equipment. I wish I had found this forum first, instead of the 20 million fake reviews PV companies are paying people to post everywhere online :/ But, at least I did get workable gear, it's re-branded KR808D-1 stuff. I got a manual, an automatic, and a USB plug-in.

I got some pre-filled cartomizers with it, they're kind of... meh. Coffee is OK, and my friends like that one best. The chocolate and the tobacco "Red" cartos are kind of blah. I started mixing up my own juices and I made another post about discovering what flavors I'm not liking, but everyone will be different. Basically it looks like at least for now, I'm not into the fruit flavors like I thought I would be.

Peppermint with creme de menthe is the only one I have right now that I keep going back to. It's the only one I made stronger flavored, to the point where it's kind of like vaping an altoid or those old binaca breath fresheners. Love it.

I mixed the nicotine at 20mg/ml, mostly because 1 part 100mg nic plus 4 parts 50/50 glycerin and PG is very easy to measure and track so I don't make mistakes. (100mg because I already have the protective goggles and gloves, and no kids around here) Adding flavors cuts that down a little bit, but I've discovered that even at 5% most of the flavors I've tried are too much for me. So, I end up vaping at about 18mg for now. That's enough to keep smoking cravings away.

It's also strong enough for me that 2 batteries will usually last me all day. Having the little charging case and a 3ml drip bottle of juice is convenient and plenty to keep me going for a couple days. Even longer when I'm home more and using the USB pass through I leave plugged in to the computer.

You can see from my avatar what's fun for me :) I'm already steeping home made coffee and vanilla bean extractions, and waiting for some more VG & PG to try different things. Since it turns out I don't need strong flavors I think these should work pretty well.

I don't think there's any way to avoid spending $ on flavors while I try to figure out what I like best, so I don't resent that too much. Fortunately the little 3ml bottles are pretty cheap. I do wish I had ordered fewer fruit ones, but maybe at lower doses I'll end up liking some of them someday. If not, I'll just offer to trade them out with people who don't like the ones I do like :)
