I bought a cheap $10 ecig kit that came with the battery, usb charger and 2 carts. After trying it and liking it, I went back and bought 4 boxes of carts. I used that for a month and decided to research a better ecig because The one I was using wasn't going to hold out much longer. I just got my V2 kit and I'm enjoying it alot so far. Seems to hold a charge really well and the taste is exquisite. Plus I've been refilling my used carts with some e-liquid I had leftover from another failed attempt at vaping. I really love the thick vapor. :vapor:

well, i'm actually almost 100% satisfied with my normal 510 and normal cartomizers and 24mg juice. I charge three times, once mid day, once at night, and right before bed. I pick up my 510 every 20-30 minutes and I'm pretty happy with "them." The only reason I'm starting to save up for a mid-level PV is curiosity from THIS DAMN FORUM!! :p
I need an "agree" button!

Honestly I think so many people have success with vaping is not because they are still getting nicotine and the whole hand to mouth thing. It's because were so damn occupied on this forum looking for the next best thing! Who has time to smoke when your burried on the internet all night looking for the next best PV and watching youtube videos.

Just a Thought!
So true. i think not only has this replaced my cigarette smoking, but has become more of a hobby. A pretty expensive hobby though. when I started all this i thought "wow I can quit smoking and save money." Well I got the quit smoking part down.

The price of entry on a standard 808 kit or Riva 510 is attractive, and I'll still recommend one or the other of them to most people looking to start out. Even if a person "graduates" to a mod fairly quickly, everyone should have backup gear, and there are multi-year vapers who have stuck with 808 and standard 510 things since they really do work for them.

My own personal setup is a nice variable voltage mod with a carto tank, I slot my own cartos since the model I prefer isn't available pre-punched, I use an 808/801 adapter since they are 801 fitting, and I vape DIY eliquid. My backup is another VV from the same company. My stealth/hands-free is a little SD Key Ring. None of these would, IMO, be appropriate to recommend as a right-off-the-bat for a typical new person, though after even a handful of months they are fine if a person is looking for more/different. My personal vaping cost is really low, less than for most people using "stock" equipment and commercial eliquids, since my mods are rock solid and DIY is very cheap to do, but a typical new person doesn't need more technical things thrown at them.

I think the auto KR808 form factor was a big part of what made the transition "easy" for me to quit with the smoking. I started with V2cig at the recommendation of a work buddy who was using them to quit smoking as well. For the most part, it worked just like a cigarette -- I inhale and puff, not too different than what I was used to. I was turned off at first by the concept of having to press a button. I think the prefilled carts and somewhat hassle-free nature of this type of product got me off to a good start, a very important transition step in my opinion. Of course I have thus moved on to larger manual batteries with CE2s and a cupboard full of supplies to go along with em :) Haven't had an "analog" in almost 2 months and not really missing them at all.

I think if I would have known about ECF before I started vaping, I would have saved tons of money. On the flip side, if I would have never known about ECF I would have saved tons of money and have been happy with my eGo-C I had. At the end though, I'm happy that I found about ECF. Lots of great information, just have to have self control on my spending habits:evil:

I think what most "veteran" vapers forget is that it is still important to have backup devices. If a new vaper purchases a top of the line mod, chances are that is all they will have in their arsenal. If there are problems with the device or heaven forbid, they just have simple user "errors" and don't have a simpler device that they are comfortable with to fall back on, guess what.....They will most likely drive to the corner store and grab a pack of analogs because they are easy and familiar. Also, many will move on to mods, but some will be comfortable with a moderate sized battery and cartos for a very long time and will feel no need to move on to mods.

You sort of echo my frame of mind when I first transitioned fully to vaping 9 months ago. I thought I'd never need anything more than my E-Power. The truth comes in two parts, a) the percentage of vapers who find a resource such as the ECF who move on to bigger and better mods or have several in their arsenal are the majority, in my experience, and b) most of us retain some, or in my and many others' case several, sort of simple device.

Also, having a resource like the ECF, other forums, and YouTube makes figuring out those more "complex" devices a breeze and from there, mods in general are easier to use.

As a side note, the amount of vapers whose first vape purchase is a top of the line mod (and that mod being their sole device), are few and far between.

My statement was directed to the number of posters I have seen recommending X mod or Y mod when a new vaper is having trouble with a simple 510 ego type setup. The perfect solution for MOST newish vapers, still trying to kick an analog habit, is NOT a complicated mod. Especially if they are not comfortable with a simple device yet and have it for backup.

I see so many experienced vapers hardselling complicated mods to new vapers that don't really even understand different thread types yet.
*Having trouble with my cartridge ...."Get a mod"
*Having trouble with my cartomizer ...."Get a mod"
*Having trouble filling my atomizer ...."Get a mod"
*Don't understand the difference between a carto/cart/atomizer...."Get a mod"
*Is my device a 510/808/etc. .... "Get a mod"

Mods are cool but they are not the end all be all for every single vaper. Sometimes a simple alteration (changing liquids, nic strength, swapping what they are putting "on" their battery) will work wonders for new vapers who are still learning the ropes.

I agree, but I generally only see experienced vapers recommend a better mod or even a step-up device when their current set-up isn't satisfying them. I rarely see a seasoned vaper recommend a different device to someone who is simply struggling with their current one. As OP said, they have received a good deal of assistance from more seasoned vapers, and I doubt someone would say something of that nature in response to the kind of situation you exemplified. If someone is telling a newer vaper to get a different device, I could only see that stemming from their belief that said device is unsatisfactory, or if the newer vaper seems displeased with the device in general. No ECF member ever attempted to move me along before I was prepared to, but then again that's just my own humble experience. It does make one wonder, however, about the quality of answers you may be getting for your own quandaries, which concerns me... Because everyone deserves fair and worthwhile advice here. I say that because you've been here just over three weeks, and are obviously speaking from some sort of experience.

Thank god for experienced vapers!!!! I have read a lot of posts, stickies, etc,. and I still have no clue! I think I have to almost transition to some of the more advanced things. As long as what I am using is effective enough to keep me off and away from analogs, it is good. I know I will eventually want something bigger and better, but until then, I am happy being analog free. Thanks for all of the wonderful info.
