You can get notifications if you subscribe to a thread, which can be found under the "Thread Tools" drop down in the top right of the screen, just above the first post.

You can subscribe to a thread, which will send you notifications when someone responds to it. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to receive notifications when you are quoted.
This is due to change soon as the new forum software we're in the process of migrating to will support that and more.
