My limited understanding of the cleaning I've been doing says Denture tablets do about the same thing, though maybe less ferociously. They are effervescent. I even carry one in my travel kit in case I end up delayed, all my atomizers get a clean. I'll try the BS and vinegar to compare tonight, but all my wicks are still clean. I don't use an atty more than a day or two(bad taste and gets scratchy on the throat). Yet to have one fail at all from use.

I used this method on most of my ego tank attys and unfortunately they hardly worked after I followed the directions as stated. I did it again the next day, using more vinegar to make sure that there was no baking soda stuck inside. Ran it under hot water and blew out the excess water. I have two fairly new attys, one I did this cleaning method on and the other I didn't. The one that left out of the cleaning process is working as it should. The one that I did this process on is not giving me an adequate TH. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

Ultimately, I ordered a couple of new attys. Eventually, I am going to try to salvage the ones that I spoke about in my last reply to this thread. I did some more investigation on the subject of atty cleaning and one of the tried and true ways was to remove the wick base and dry burn the coil, then reattach the base. The removal of that wick plate sounds challenging, but worth a try on an atty that isn't working properly anyway. Also, as recommended in one of the threads here, I ordered an ultra-sonic cleaner to try out as well. Peace.

Update: I used the instructions for wick removal and cleaning https://www.myvaporstore.com/v/vspfiles/assets/images/egotankatomizercleaning.jpg. It salvaged one of the attys that were injured from the baking soda/vinegar method.:?: Now I can not make the wick stay in place with the cartridge attached. Soo glad that I got my new atty and am using it for the rest of the night.

thanks rondodog,
I can't confirm with vinegar but I tried with lemon juice on a trashable regular 901 and almost trashable RN4081.
They both performed better than other methods. Both gave 'new' like clouds on first couple of puffs.
The 901 decreased performance on subsequent puffs, even after breaking in, I think it's a wicking problem.
But the RN4081 is like new.

I think this is worth a sticky.

Noob to cleaning, here. Hoping for a little guidance. Been vaping for about 2 years, but I've never tried any kind of atty/carto cleaning before (barely use attys and keep dedicated flavors for my cartos till they die). So do forgive me if this seems rather self explanatory. ;) Would this work with Boge 510 cartos?

And if so, do you leave the filler in when you do this? So just put some baking soda powder into top hole, add vinegar and few drops lemon juice, plug top hole with finger. Do that a few times, and then do the same thing multiple times w water to rinse. Put mouth over top hole and blow till no more water flies out (worried about blowing out killing the cartos), Then stick in front of a fan to dry. Does that sound about right? I wanna make sure this works, as I'm giving eGo kits w bunch of small bottles of juice flavors to two people who've never vaped before for xmas, and one of them has very little $ and will be sampling a bunch of flavors right off the bat to see what he likes. I need to come up with a good cleaning method for his attys and cartos, just cause he's likely to dislike a bunch of flavors, and don't want him to have to buy cartos left and right when the old ones are perfectly good, just permeated with a flavor of juice he doesn't like. Does it sound like I'm describing it properly?

And please, if someone could tell me if they've used this with Boge cartos and if its ok to leave the filler in when I do this. THANK YOU! Amazing to find a helpful method that gets rid of residue flavors/smells of juice that doesn't require pricey or hard to come by things.

Over the years lots of methods.solutions, machines etc. have been tried in an effort to clean and preserve attys.None of them have ever been proven to work.Save yourselves a lot of time and effort. Replace them when they go bad or get a rebuildable attomizer.
Unless you like fiddling around with that sort of thing.

Cleaning is just prolonging the agony. If your attys are dying after only a few weeks, try vaping clean liquids - Menthol is always a good one for keeping the atty in good shape. Remember, the atty has two tiny electrical contacts, and any boiling/water or other messing around will degrade these contacts. If you do bring your atty back to life it usually won't last that long anyway. Just replace them. Or switch to 901s - those attys just refuse to lie down :)
