Glad I stopped in and read this thread!! I LOVE my 78 autos, but have been wondering what the manual batteries are like ... PLUS I wanna try dripping when testing new flavors of juice! When Reading the "newbie" section so many recommended manual batteries, but I went auto because I wanted to come as close as I could to "smoking" when I gave up analogs (who pushes a button to smoke, right??) LOL!! NOW I'm gonna order my first X2 to use at home & it's going to be a manual ... Just have to decide which size!! I will probably always prefer auto 78's when out and about (unless I talk myself into one of those "Ultimo" box mods I saw in Steeljan's video in which she used a Smokeless Image carto!!! LOL!!! I think I'm lusting over that cute little thing with the button and zebra print!! ;-). So can you guys tell me why you now prefer the manual batteries over the autos? Just curious ....

Manual batteries are thought to give you more control and I believe that is true. For someone like me that started with a mini ecig, and went the ego route for a while, I developed a big appreciation for autos. Then when SI came out with the X2, sealed auto, I was in heaven. For me, it is like the difference in a manual or auto transmission. Simple and easy wins for me. Having said that, I have 1 X2 manual that I really like and I use it with cartos most of the time.:vapor::vapor:

I like both. You do get more vapor from a manual, but that is only because I heat up the coil for a quick second first. You can do the same thing with manual by taking a primer puff.

I use the manuals when I am at home laying in bed or on the computer but when I am out in the car I use the auto because I like to hang it from my mouth

I think you get a bit more vapor. Push the button a second before you drag gets the coil heating before the drag. If that makes sense.

Precisely right. you don't actually get more vapor production from a manual. But since you don't need to pull through it to fire it, you get more vapor delivery.

I prefer the autos since I hate buttons. But I still like the manuals as they aren't as limited in what hardware you can use them with since they don't rely on maintaining the proper airflow path to fire. I use them with things like attys to test out new juices and my DIY mixes, to dry burn my clearos, and to use them with CE3s (which don't easily work with autos) for acidic juices that aren't compatible with the Clearos.
