First, hello to all.. Happy to be here.
I'm a long time lurker, recent member. I'm rather new to using vape gear but as a former pack a day smoker I've been watching the e-cig industry for awhile now. My journey is as different as everyone's seems to be. I haven't been a pack a day guy for years. I quit cold turkey about 12 years ago with the occasional relapse here and there usually related to high stress times.
I started smoking very young, around fourteen years old. Times were different then as I remember running to the corner store as a kid to grab a pack of smokes for my grandmother. The graduation from buying Pall Mall's for her to the occasional pack for me was slow but steady. I smoked regularly from then till around the age of thirty. So much has changed in the last thirty years. Thankfully
For me, few things were/are better after a rough day than a smoke. I'd go several years then hit a rough patch and grab a pack. I'd suffer through the first smoke and spend the next month or two buying packs till I got back on track and would stop again. I did OK with the occasional smoke now and then (2-3 smokes a year) but once I bought an entire pack I was back up to a pack every two days for a few months.
Wash, rinse, repeat every few years or so. The problem with being a stress smoker is.. Well... stress happens..hell sometimes just waking up in the morning can be stressful.
I started again a few months ago after about the years of not smoking. I bought one pack, then another and after three total packs smoked I decided to give vaping a shot as an alternative to continuing this oh so familiar cycle. So far, so good. I haven't smoked another "stinky" since my first e-cig. If I have a strong desire to smoke, I vape a bit. Either very low (3 mg) or zero nicotine.
I don't vape every day..every now and then and that seems to quell the urge to grab a pack. I've learned that, for me, it's the physical act of smoking that is most calming to me not the addiction to nicotine. Maybe it's due to the number of times I've started and stopped over the years but thankfully my withdrawal symptoms "feel" less severe than they used to.
I will say, as a gadget guy... the thing I'm worried about now is all the cool toys/gear/mods out there. Lol
Anyway, that's my story and this is my hello. Thanks for reading
