Obligatory Newbie Hello/Question Post Take Two

Man, I spent like an hour writing this long, in depth introduction post, and then it just…went away. No idea what I did wrong. If it posts later and this is a double, please excuse me. Here is the TL;DR version. :D

I've been vaping for three weeks. I'm currently using an Evod vv 1300 and a Kanger T3s tank. I was a smoker for almost 25 years. I'd tried to quit multiple times, the last time using a Blu. That was a miserable failure; the darn thing was like sucking on a straw, and it lasted about two weeks during which time all I could think while I was "smoking" the thing was how badly I wanted a "real" cigarette. Needless to say, I dismissed e-cigs as an option after that and resigned myself to just being a smoker. I stumbled bass-ackwards into vaping, through what I felt like might be the universe telling me to get it together and DO IT already. The first night I brought home my e-cig (an ego-c 650) I sat on the couch vaping it, thinking "Hmm, this is nice. I like it." I still had a pack of unopened cigarettes, so I figured vaping would be my way to "cut back" and that I'd phase it in and see how it went. The next morning, my best friend came over for coffee. Usually, she and I sit on my front stoop (no cigarettes in the house) and chain smoke. That morning, I smoked two cigarettes, decided that they tasted gross, went inside and got my e-cig and gave the rest of the pack to my friend. I have not thought about a cigarette since then. I have not craved a cigarette. I would never have believed it if you'd have told me it would be this easy, that vaping would be SO MUCH BETTER. I feel fairly evangelical about it, like I want to run up to strangers on the street and tell them all about it. I know that seems silly, but I never thought I'd be able to quit smoking even for three weeks, much less that doing so would be pleasant!

I did upgrade from the 650 to a variable voltage battery after a week, and I will say that the vv battery gives me more of the "kick" I was hoping for. I'm still figuring out which liquids I like. So far, I love NicQuid Soho, True Ry4, and today I visited another vape shop in town and bought some Panther Fogzilla which is yummy. I'd like to find a nice mint flavor, but so far I haven't discovered one that does it for me. I confess to having a touch of "shinyitis", though I'm holding myself back from buying anything else new until I do some research and figure out what I want. I looked at a Tesla Spider today, and an iTaste CLK, but I'm not really clear on how those are different from what I currently have, other than the battery lasts a little longer? So if someone has recommendations I'd love to hear them. I did buy a Kanger Protank 3 today, which I thought with the dual coil plus my vv battery would be awesome, but honestly I get better vapor and more satisfaction from my T3s. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, or if it's just a personal preference thing.

Anyway, if you made it this far, I salute you. I've learned a lot already from reading the forums, and I look forward to learning even more now.

Wow! That's a lot of info! I think the Ego vv/VW is a great battery to start off with. Good choice. I get them for my friends who are starting out. It works very well with a aspire nautilus mini with the BVC coils. The aerotank mega is a better tank than the protank 3. There's an adapter for that:

Not sure if that's the best price, didn't shop around. Reign Drops makes a nice mint flavor, my friend loves it. You can find Reign Drops @ Completevape. Their Festival is a great flavor too, French bread.

Good luck with your quit & welcome to the forum.

Congratulations and Welcome! And now, while you're still all excited and wanting to tell everyone, go on over and join CASAA CASAA - The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association and you can do that. It's an organization (free to join) fighting to protect the rights of vapers and spread the good word about vaping and help get the lawmakers off our backs. Every voice counts!

I started in January, made it 3 1/2 months, had a month-long relapse, and now am just past 12 weeks smoke-free *again*, and I *still* feel that way! The first time, back in Feb, it took me a little longer to phase smoking out and vaping in, about a month, but it was so painless, I couldn't believe it. The 2nd time was harder, really an act of will, but somehow I made it back! I want to run down the street screaming "I don't smoke anymore! Let me tell you about e-cigarettes!" like some kind of religious fool or something. :D

Anyway, nice to meet you, welcome to ECF, and congratulations! :thumb:

Congrats on you new journey into the vaping world. I also started with an eGo. I smoked a little over a pack a day for 42 years before I started vaping. It only took me 4 days to completely switch from smoking to vaping but as you see on this forum that was rather quick compared to many others. When I started vaping 4 years ago the selection of devices and atomizers was really limited. Back then Tanks where still pretty much a dream on the drafting table yet. All there really was to use was either dripping into a 510 or eGo atomizer or using a refillable atomizer cartridge that had fill material in it that you dripped juice on and the put it on the atomizer so the liquid wicked to the heating coils. Today this is all very old school. With several great tank systems and variable watt and variable volt devices on the market, we have went from very little to choose from to an over whelming array of products. For tanks I currently use a ViVi Nova, Iclear 30 (original model) and have just ordered 2 nautilus tanks, one standard and one mini with the BVC (Bottom Vertical Coil) heads. I've heard good things about the pro tank 2 but I haven't tried one yet. For me staying quit was a matter of keeping enough nicotine in my system so I didn't get cravings. I still vape 24mg which is high but I can get by just fine on 18mg and will be switching to 18mg all the time. As for juice flavors that is a really tricky thing as we all have different taste preferences and taste pallets. I currently RY4 from My Freedom Smokes is my all day vape but I also really enjoy my fruit and drink flavors too. Finding that flavor that is just right is like having to kiss a lot of frogs before one turns into a prince. Anyway, I'm rambling. Congrats and come back soon ECF offers a lot of info for newbies all the way to extreme experts. Don't be shy, ask questions.
