To make a long story short im stuck with a bunch of Patriot branded 808 cartos from another vendor.. Now, they have an issue....

As you see the normal 808 is on the left, the patriot is on the right. It has no slot for airflow. All my equipment is wonderful GP 808 gear (and hence forth will remain so! Ive learned my lesson....). Im wondering what to do with these cartos though and to get SOME use before I make a new order from prophets.

Ive heard of the staple mod, but thats a serious pita to not only make but to keep it in place if I have to swap or fill/clean catos for any reason. Ive tried these things on a 901 passthrough and battery I also ordered last week from ya (GP 901) and its a no go, no air flow because of the lack of slots on these darn things. I also tried adaptors (808-510 and 901 - 808 or 510 or something).

Anybody know of a different adapter combo to try? Or should I toss em and just say sod off to the whole thing and wait for real GP cartos? Without buying the special batteries for just this manufactured type of carto (and that would mean a whole $60 starter set...ill toss em before shelling out that money for just this issue.)

I might just be outta luck.

Man that's a small area to work with. Wonder if could solder in the staple mod somehow so permanent part of carto? Only other possibility is getting a small enough dremel type bit in there to score it, but again PITA for sure. Maybe instead of a cutting wheel (would work beautifully if it would fit, but might not groove from inside to outside edge of ring) you could use a diamond point to score it, but might have to clamp tool down and handle carto by hand since I cant think of a good way to clamp and hold the carto without crushing it.

Depending on how many you have, might go with chunking. If you could make the staple mod permanent easily without shorting anything you might be in business.

I will have to check with the adapter combo. See if there is a way for airflow.
I thought I tried this before.

Btw, are you using auto batts, or manual?
If using auto, you might be better off tossing them, airflow would have to be adjustable or
at least close to perfect.

I have some new 808 cartos coming in about 2 weeks.....
If you want to trade up, I am game.
How many do you have?

Now I am wondering if a 901 to 808 carto adapter would work?

I have that (Ordered it from you a week ago actually thinking that would do it also) but it has a smooth face, so no.

I bet some combo of adaptors would do it, like 501-808-901-etc in a chain might but I was waiting on someone who already tried to clue me in before i order even more.

Autos would work though, your right but I only have 1 1/2 dead auto and ive since gone to just manuals but if necessary yea ill just go that route.
