I hope this thread gets some replies, all I know is that its to be a combination of all the good things about the Penelope and the Odysseus. And from what they say, its going to be more available for purchase. Unless of course they come up with yet another updated model.

All I can say is just getting my new Odysseus V2 on weds is that I cant even imagine anything better. It was twice the price of when it was released, but it was worth it, to me. It was so easy to build the wick, so easy to fill and it exceeded my expectations on taste and performance. Only con I can come up with is that they are discontinued and getting another one would be just out of my wallets reach. I hope someday they do another run, just for kicks.

If the Ithaka is better than I cant imagine how. People love the Penelope also, except that its a smaller unit, less juice capacity but an amazing unit. Check out the thread in the GG forum and see the video to see what is expected from the Ithaka.

Okay, first let me say that in my opinion if you have the chance to buy an Ody2 but are hesitating because you think the Ithaka will be SOOO much better and you don't want to feel you've wasted your money, just go ahead and buy the ody. The differences between the two are for the most part about making it a little more versatile and addressing a few suggestions that a few people have made on the forums. Don't get me wrong, the Ithaka is an evolutionary atty (yes I meant evolutionary). Meaning that everything that all the little things that people have said they would like to see changed have been. At the same time though I can see several changes to even the Ithaka's design that he will make further down the line. And I feel that the Ody2 is a solid piece of work that has no true flaws and I would NOT suggest holding out for the Ithaka IF you get the opportunity to buy one.

So here are the differences in a nutshell. And let me say, unless you have an Ody2 most of these diffs won't mean a thing to you.
-First the notch at the top sides of the ceramic used for the wick/wire are deeper to accommodate thicker wick or the use of multi-wick.
-The negative wire now connects at the base post much like the positive lead does.
-It comes with a clear window instead of having to either buy a window and extension or buy a custom window from Kir (what I do since you can't ever find an actual GG extension and because Kir has windows of 4 different sizes)
-The method of connecting the ceramic and atty to the base uses a wide ring rather than a thin nut. This has several purposes but mostly just so you can set it to always have liquid flow rather than unscrewing the neck. To me the is NOT an improvement since once you have set you can't change it without taking it apart again. And the whole point of the Ithaka, Ody, iAtty, Ody2, etc is the control of air, liquid, etc and by making it so the liquid is always on is a step back. If you want it on a little just unscrew the neck a little, if you want it open a lot unscrew it a lot. I can't think of any (good) reason why you would want it to always be open but I can think of several reasons why you would want to be able to completely cut off the liquid flow including the desire to put it in your pocket or purse without it leaking.
-You can adjust the length of the center post easier. This allows for better connections using various fittings such as 510, ego, 801, etc. Again, this is not a new feature just an improvement over the current one. I can adjust the length on the Ody2 but it's easier on the Ithaka.
-You can add a piece to the base of the Ithaka to use on a 510 rather than having to drain, and change the base. For me, when I think I will need to use my Ody2 on both the GGTS and a 510/Ego I just use the 510 base it came with rather than the GG base. All the features are the same between the two it's just a different configuration is all. Again, this is a great new enhancement but it's not really something that 'had' to be done.
-The tank cap can be used like the Ody2 for easy fill or the top cap, which is used to make the seal around the neck, can be removed so it can be topped off with a little more liquid much like the Penelope cap is designed. Again, I do the same thing with the Ody 2 it just requires the additional removal of the o-ring which is fitted into the cap of the Ithaka so it stays in the cap when it's removed. Also interesting to note that when filling this way on either the Ody 2 or the Ithaka it will still require the use of either a bottle with a needle tip or a syringe.
-Has the ability to add another adapter that allows air flow control just like the GGTS for when using it in another configuration such as 510/ego. It's like taking that piece off the GGTS and putting it on the bottom of the Ithaka. Again, this is only useful when using on something other than a GGTS. And it's another piece to buy which as we all know is almost impossible to do.
-Allows you to put a 510 drip tip into the neck rather than just using the neck. I do like this feature. So much so in fact that shortly after purchasing my Ody2 I bored out the neck. Which by the way is exactly what he did on the Ithaka!

I know I missed a few features but this is the bulk of them in a nutshell. And please remember, I have included my opinions as an avid GG user just for your information only. They are my opinions and I don't expect everyone will agree. I believe the Ithaka to be the next evolution in what is (again IMO) the best line of rebuildable attys anywhere. They are expensive and EXTREMELY hard to find but that is just because they are SO incredibly good and he cuts NO corners on a single one. He listens to the people who use these every single day and makes the next model with their ideas in the design. I would say to anyone who is interested in getting one to step in line as soon as you can and place your order. But, again I would also say to those who can only have one or the other and have the opportunity to buy an Ody2, snatch it up now! You won't regret it, not even when the Ithaka is out.

Well, a BIG thank you to Tbomb, this justified my purchase. I saw the videos on Ithaka and the reviews, dont get me wrong, its going the be the next big thing and Im sure it will be wonderful, but the changes for me, dont seem to be enough to make me want to buy the new one. The Odysseus V2 is so easy and so flexible as is. I love the size and it is worth the money I spent.

No leaks even with the flow adjuster open , I put it upside down, laid it on its side for a few hours. No dry hits. Even with thick dark, high VG NET tobaccos , I chain vaped for 12 hours before the coils get gunked. I soak in hot water for a few minutes and dry burn and its good to go for another day.

I totally agree about the use of drip tips as I said. If that is the only thing you find to be an issue I suggest taking your mouthpiece either to a machine shop (Google one in your area or use yellow pages) to bore out or try doing it yourself (I would suggest a heavy drill press). If you find someone who has a shop most of the time when they find out how easy it is they will do it for $25 or so. You would be surprised how many people you know have someone they know with the machining equipment. You can even find some car shops with the tools. I just used a heavy drill press with a built in vice and went on to CloudsofVapor.com for spare Ody2 'mouthpiece cones' to use in case I messed it up. However, I ended up with a bored mouthpiece for short mode, 510 mode, and just recently CE2 mode. Of course I never use them in 510 or CE2 mode I just like that being longer I can use them to make the Ody2 longer and use an additional window from Kir which not only gives you the longer/more juice but the added helpfulness of a window to show you how much fluid you have as well as how far open you have the liquid control. When I purchased the Ody2 I was able to get the GG window but it requires a special extension piece to use it which I can never find. But as I said, Kir's windows allow you to use just the window to replace the metal tank and keep it in short mode or add the window to the existing metal tank and have long mode. And once I added the extra length of a drip tip I was able to make it even longer using 30mm and 40mm windows with the metal tank which makes it HUGE. If I could post pics I would show you what I was talking about but sadly I have been reading on this forum for years but not really posted until recently.

As for the leaking I totally agree. I have only had a few leaks and that was because I was using a very thin juice at the time and didn't make the wicks thicker to compensate. As a result I kept flooding it. Now I just add some VG to my thinner liquids and use either thicker wick or multi-wick to keep it from draining past the wick. Which actually brings me to one issue I do have with the Ody2 and I am trying to fix now (not addressed with the Ithaka BTW) which is liquid wicking into the bottom of the Ody2. It stands to reason if liquid travels up the wick to the coil it will also travel down the wick into the bottom of the Ody2 as well. In fact, it will travel even more down the wick into the chamber below since most people not only use the Ody2 in upright position but also carry the same way and then gravity takes affect. I want to seal that whole channel on both sides so the wick doesn't continue past the ring. The only issue is the wires. This is where I would need to get creative. Although it would give me the opportunity to perform another mod which would not only allow an easier coil install but better conductivity and thus better vapor creation. I am using the GGTS which if you don't know is purely mechanical with no electronics what-so-ever including wires. This means that all current is passed through the body of the unit itself (which you are holding) and through the pins that travel up and connect to the center post of the Ody2 where you connect the positive lead of your atty coil. For the negative it's a no brainier, even now I just put the lead between the ceramic and the ceramic housing instead of the channel in the housing which relies on the wick to hold the lead up against the housing. This way it's better conduction and I can close that channel at the base. But as I said, the positive is going to be a little more tricky I think. I have a couple of ideas but I will have to play with it some to work it out. I'm sure Imeo could work it out in a heart beat with some slick method but he's a genius with this engineering and prototyping stuff.

WOW! That was just supposed to be a quick reply and it turned into this. Maybe that's why I generally stick to reading and not posting. ;-)

So far, I have not had one leak. I will sometimes close the flow when I know Im not going to be using it. But Ive left it on the bed on its side and nothing. I place it upside down and nothing. I use 50/50 juice and higher. I hope it stays that way. Ive seen alot of posts about people saying that there are no leaks and it can be placed on its side.

I love this atty

checking in with my penelope and having a vape...personally, i feel that if you want the higher juice cap, get the ody, if you want the sleeker look, get the penelope...the ith will most likely be an extremely nice unit (it IS a GG afterall right?) but the ody and penelope as is are nearly perfect in design...i've never once had a leak, the threads are buttery smooth, wicking is almost NEVER an issue due to the vaccum/gravity feed system...hell you can even adjust the airflow for the draw on them...if you've been thinking about it, stop waiting and JUMP, these attys are second to NONE.

Yep, keep checking the classifieds here on ECF, Penelope and Ody come up for sale every so often.

there are a lot of Penelopes floating around fairly cheap...I've seen them go as low as 120 bucks...and its where I found mine so...this statement is total truth.
