They're all pretty much the same, most come out of the same factory in China. Volcano was just the first to put it on the market with the "Lava Tube". They are and will be the "it" item this year. 2011:Ego-T 1000mah & 2012 - Lava Tube. In a few months the new version of the Lava Tube will be out, and it will be sweet as the currently Lava Tube regulates the output on 1.5 ohm cartos to 3.7 volts, most of us vape 1.5 ohm somewhere north of 4 volts. The new model won't regulate down to 3.7.

I can't think of any reason why you would want to put a low resistance carto on a vv device like this. Get some 3ohm cartos and you'll love it.

+1 ^ That's where I sit with my LT and I love it. 3.0ohm Boge in a VPX tank. All the flavor and warmth you could want.

Keep in mind that when people are referring to 1.5 ohm carto it is probably a dual coil carto. These have two 3 ohm coils. while a lot of people use them on 3.7V devices, I found that they really shine at 5V. Problem is that at 5V they draw 3.3 amps which is beyond the limits of some VV devices such as the Lt or Provari.

Yes I love 3ohm Boge but my true love is a 1.6ohm dual coil carto at 6V. The dcc's can withstand high voltage and show their true colors.

To the OP, a LT is a LT no matter where you buy it. Volcano is the only one that can call it a LavaTube.

I noticed your link that the kit has unprotected batteries. I am not usre if that is a good idea as I have seen lots of warnings about unprotected batteries. Maybe someone that knows more about that kit can chime in here.

It's my understanding that these batteries are Lithium Magnesium which are a different chemistry than lithium ions and do not need protection circuity. They are supposedly much safer. Maybe someone else has more info.

All indications are that the IMR batteries are as safe as a protected battery. No battery is 100% safe and smart usage is a big part of the battle. If your ecig is hot to the touch stop using it and put it down in a non-flamable area. If your batteries are swelling or the casing is blistered stop using that battery.

Use common sense and be safe.
