3.1 is bigger and has airflow control on the side

lite plus has airflow control on the underside.

The tanks can be full stainless, full plastic or part and part. You can buy smaller chimneys and reduce the tank size. Get different colours etc. Don't let the plastic put you off. It's actually Makrolon, so unless you're using juices like Pluid, you should be fine. I've never had a problem.

I've been using protanks for like 7-8 months. Then bought a nautilus about 3 weeks ago and a kayfun a week ago. If someone would have told me in the beginning to just get a kayfun, it would have saved me so much effort and money for what I was trying to achieve - better vape and better flavor. I tried building coils in protanks. They are without a doubt so much more difficult than in the kayfun simply because the working space is so small. I would vote hands down for the kayfun lite plus.

So, the KFL+ has the AFC on the underside...any issues compared to the side AFC?
Are these the tanks that are tricky to fill........maybe that was another I read about, might be getting confused LOL.
Best place to buy?
Oh...are these clones we are talking about, assume so?
Any issue with machine oils being on the units and if so...best way to clean?
Makrolon...never read that term. We do use some heavy Cinnamon juices, would this be an issue? Assume NT juices are okay and no issues. But maybe straight/heavy citrus would be a problem.

This, for me, has been the most informative thread I've participated in yet on this subject.

Love my kayfuns and Russians.

However, a perfectly built PT running at about 1.5ohms, cotton wick is still a hell of a vape!!

Not an RBA but put the Aspire Nautilus in your options as well. Just throwing it in there.

Kayfuns and Taifuns are good but hard to get glass tanks and are expensive. Replacement plastic tanks are cheap from fast tech though. Makrolon tanks are those clear tanks that are expensive but still cracks with some juices. They also cone in different sizes. I suggest just getting tanks from fast tech if you go with kayfun or taifun and you get different colors too.

Kayfuns come with steel tanks anyway that you can use for tank crackers.

They are not tricky to fill, you can fill from the bottom by unscrewing the screw from the bottom or fill from the top. Youtube how to fill kayfun from top or something like that. I just fill from the bottom.

AFC on the bottom, not really an issue for me it is a set and forget thingy. Set once then it's all good.

Clones you can get from fast tech or vendors usually carry them. Legit ones I usually get them from intaste.de

About machine oils, better to wash them when you get it or soak overnight in vodka!!! Or soak with warm soapy water.

Oh and fast tech orders takes a while to get to your door.

Edit: just to add, parts on the clones and the legit ones are interchangeable. So you can use clone tanks for legit kayfuns.

I don't have the side afc but mine is underside. The kayfun lite plus v2 is I think the most recent and the fixed a few things like they put an o ring on the screw that holds your juice in so it won't leak. Like yeug said, set it and forget it.

I would use the stainless tank if you are worried about it cracking. I live in Tx as well and for US purchase I went through vape revolution which is vaperev.com. They just had them on sale though for easter so they are sold out waiting on restocking. I read on a different forum that the clones are the ones that have heavy machine oil. Mine that I got was clean as a whistle but I still cleaned it with soap and water before use. If you are worried on heavy cinnamon, then you can always use the middle piece that is interchangeable with the plastic and it's stainless. So, it would give a solid stainless body look. on vape rev, there are also colored ones like blue, green, orange etc that you can buy as replacement plastic I think they are like $10. Filling from the bottom is a breeze. You just unscrew a screw (which on the kfl+ ones has an o ring on it so they won't leak) and start filling. The hole isn't wide enough to fit a plastic bottom top inside, but it does have a little dip around the hole that fits a plastic bottle so all my juices are easy to fill. No need to go buy a syringe unless you use glass bottles with no droppers.

I bought a nautilus right before I bought this. I will say they do give good flavor and vape for SURE. Much better than a stock protank. My only complaint with nautiulus is that the heads/coils get gunky quick and some of them for whatever reason if you wash them out or soak them in vodka, just never work the same. They are also pretty impossible to get apart to rebuild. I was on the forum and in a discussion about that and it seems everyone has that problem. So, if I relied on that tank solely I would be changing coils frequently and a 5 pack replacement is about $14-15. If you do the math on replacing it once or twice, sometimes 3 times a week. That's costly!

There are 2 coils that I think will be my solid "go to" coils to build. If you go on youtube, you can search riptrippers kayfun - that should bring you up just a standard microcoil with cotton. The other coil to search is "navy nest" - this was my first coil and probably the easiest to do. You can buy ekowool from vape rev as well and you just take 30g wire and wrap it around the strand of wool. I talked to someone else that uses this method and after 2-3 fills on the tank he takes it all apart, rinses it out, dry burns the coil and then reloads it. One guy is still using the same coil just dry burning it after a month or two of use. If you do a microcoil, then after probably each full tank, rinse it off, take the cotton out and toss it, dry burn the coil to get the gunk off, add cotton and you are good to go.

I bought the cheapest kanthal wire on amazon. I think I paid like $5 a spool of 100 feet. Hopefully you will find this helpful. I think I regurgitated what took me endless hours to research so I'm happy to try to help save someone else some time. If you have other questions you can message me directly I don't mind. I am by no means a master at building coils. I'd still consider myself a beginner. But, from the knowledge perspective I have it all down in my head. I just haven't had enough practice to make perfect yet.

THANK YOU ALL ...............this has been a huge help.

Only thing I think I really don't like is the SS middle section, tough to see when fluid is low thus the possibility of a dry hit at some point in time. Other than this and the cost, the only other issue I think I might have is should there be an issue...I read that the fluid needs to be drained to do any work on it. Not a deal breaker but maybe a bit of an annoyance.

I haven't perceived that as an issue. Coils typically last so much longer on this. You kinda just know when its time to replace cotton or a good rule of thumb is to do it after every tank or two. I haven't yet experienced anything "in the middle" of a full tank. Maybe still use something with heavy cinnamon in another solid glass tank? If you know you might have the middle piece crack, then stock up on them at fast tech for cheap. As far as knowing when it's low, if you have vaped all day, then take the screw off, add a little and put it back in. The tank holds quite a bit of juice so I've never had it run out on me in a day.

If you opt for a clone, take it completely apart (O-rings and all) and wash it very thoroughly in dish soap and hot water. Rinse well. Boil the metal parts in clean water with a few drops of soap for 10 minutes. Rinse well. This method even works for the worst kind of gunk. Might seem like overkill, but who wants their good juice tasting like machine oil?

One of our forum members, murtcepS, makes Pyrex tanks. He states here that they will be ready Monday. I wlll be looking to purchase at least one. As sharp as some of the colors are, I might be tempted to buy 2. I saw one of his tips and it was very nice. Would be easy for you to match up your lady's favorite colour.

The Kayfun Quartz tanks are hard to find in stock, but a search will turn up a few. The most popular ones are made by Tarsius.

For some reason my leaks into my mouth a bit.. Pause lol. I dunno what's going on with it.

I have had that happen with my Kayfun when there was too much cotton coiled on the deck. I trimmed the cotton so it barely sits on the deck and voila! Worked great for me, your mileage may vary.

I make sure that the cotton barely sits on the deck.. I'm thinking something isn't tight enough. Or maybe I overfilled.. I'll let it ride and see what happens.

I would be interested in how this turns out. I can always use info on tweaking Kayfun's. Never know when I may need it!
