No Name Vanilla tobacco 6mg 50/50 PG/VG (steeped three weeks)

An interesting take on vanilla. Other vanillas I've tried have ranged from a vanilla bean/Vanilla extract type flavor to a vanilla creme filled doughnut. This one is more like the vanilla in a vanilla wafer cookie to me. The tobacco in this one is definitely smaller font, but it's there, playing just behind the vanilla. It has a "desserty" type of sweet note the other two (the Fire Cured and Turkish) didn't have. A light, pleasant vape that won't wear your taste buds out.

In honor of 'Nilla Wafers: 'Nilla 'Bacco!
Wow! Talk about someone who can distinguish the nuances of vanilla!
I love vanillas and vanilla tobaccos but could never identify and articulate the different variations as well as you!
Impressive!
I love QnJ's Your Name Vanilla, btw!

Vanilla Tobacco NET:

These NETs really do taste great in my HH357 atty. The vanilla NET is like a wafer, as opposed to the rich custards or creams. The tobacco is much lighter here than in the fire cured or turkish. Overall I love this one most. I have always been a big fan of QNJ's RY4 and Vanilla Tobacco. This blend ranks up there with other great QNJ tobaccos.

My name for the "Your Name Vanilla" is White Leaf.

Quick update on the ultrasonic cleaner and the impact on steep time. I leave for a business trip early tomorrow morning and won't be able to run the tests until Thursday or Friday which is close enough to the end of the month to call the experiment done now.

So, i took each sample and split them as close to 50/50 as I could (it was fairly accurate - I used my filling syringes... not drip for drip accurate but, close nonetheless). One control set of 4 bottles, I put in my steeping cabinet and left the lids on. The other, I did 30 minutes cycles in the ultrasonic cleaner every day for 6 days. The cleaner was loaded with 2 cups of plain tap water and then emptied after the 30 minutes. Then, I dripped 4 drops of each on identical drippers using premade coils that ohmed out to the same 1.7. Both mods were using fresh batteries that I purchased at the same time and are in rotation together. I tried to remove any kind of outside interference in this little experiment.

Also - I did taste them fresh before separating into test and control groups.

After 6 days, the flavor difference was very subtle. I only caught hints of flavor changes between the liquids and was unable to definitively say whether sonic blasts had an impact or not. I added my names to the thread after doing this first comparison taste.

So, i put the control group back in the cabinet and every day (except for 2 - one i got busy and forgot ad the other was a day i had a day trip to phoenix for work) I blasted the test group with 3 cycles (15 minutes) in the cleaner. (so, 11 days) I did not taste the liquids again until today.

There are differences in the flavors - the test group was slightly improved in flavor - the notes were a bit more profound. And by a bit I really mean a small amount. I could tell the difference this time (as opposed to after the first 6 days) but, it was not a substantial difference.

My best guess is that it sped up the steep by about a week... maybe 2 weeks after 12.5 hours in the sonic cleaner over a 17 day period. Being generous, that means that each hour in the sonic cleaner lowered the steep time between 12 hours and 1 day.

I dont know if results will be similar for other liquids or if there are better ultrasonic cleaners out there (I am sure there are) but, my take is that the increased time really doesn't add much given the effort needed.

Conclusion: interesting idea, small changes when executed, and overall not worth the effort.

If anyone else gets around to running this test, i would be interested in their findings... It would be interesting to see whether my results are anecdotal or consistent.

So, yea. thats it :)

Your Name Turkish Tobacco: 18mg, 50/50, Iclear 16 clearomizer, 3.9volts

My name: "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)"

This is so damn good. This is honestly what I always wanted a Turkish tobacco to be, smooth, medium-bodied and rich with a woodsy toasted exhale that lingers for minutes on my tongue after exhaling. Curiously, I detect a mild tartness/acidity as well, but that does nothing to distract from the unified flavor. If you taste in color, this is a warm taupe. The only sweetness is from the glycerine: it is not overly sweetened at all. Folks who liked the old Camel Turkish Royal analogs (in the blue box) will go absolutely gaga over this. The tobacco is forthright but not harsh, not in the least. I have vaped an entire Iclear-full and might fill it again rather than moving on to the other samples. Throat hit is moderate and vapor is plentiful.

This is a masterpiece. Zoomed to the "cannot be without it" level within 3mls. Rich, I'm going to be emailing you to see if we can work something out with shipping. If not, I'm going to get a mule to buy it for me and ship. Seriously, that good.

Vanilla next.

Very nice Scarfy. Tis a wonderful vape indeed. Even though I liked Fire Cured a little more than Turkish, I can easily see them switching spots since it was pretty close. Nice comparison to Camel Turkish Royal, that was a decent smoke.

Depending on my funds when these are released, if I decide to get a big bottle of these I'll check in to see if you want to split an order, if QnJ still doesn't ship overseas.

Thanks for sharing your results CW. Definately sounds like something not worth the effort. I prefer to let good old, reliable time do the work for me when possible.

I would bet that most of the change happened within the first 2 to 2.5 hours of run time in the ultrasonic cleaner. You can oversteep in there too, most people using UC for steeping never go beyond 4 hours. You can gauge progress a lot easier with DIY juice by checking the color change.

There are huge differences in ultrasonic cleaners too, the most important is power to the ultrasonic transducer, which is kind of like a speaker that produces tones we can't hear. More wattage moves more water just like more wattage to a speaker moves more air.

Been vaping the new QnJ Cherry flavor. I have found two very clear categories that every QnJ juice fits into. One is "excellent". The other is, "It doesn't fit my profile but it is still an excellent juice for those profiles it fits". The new cherry flavor falls in the latter category. I'm not into cherry so it would be an unfair charge to say it is not an excellent vape. In fact, this is the best cherry vape I have tried and I can actually vape it. The only reason I would not reorder is because there are far too many alternatives that are better. This cherry vape has a little sting to it similar to what you would get from a maraschino. Sharp and noticeable. Once again, the base tobacco is smooth and pleasant. I will continue to vape what was sent to me until it is gone because it is a good vape. If you like cherry vapes, QnJ's version is for you.

No Name Cherry tobacco 6mg 50/50 PG/VG (steeped three weeks)

This is one of the better cherry tobaccos I've tried (and I've tried a bunch). It's not that mediciny cherry or candy cherry like most of them, but tastes all the world like a black cherry to me (someone else said that and they were spot on). The tobacco is further in the background than in the other three. There's just enough tobacco that you can taste it, and the cherry is well up front. It has a very nice fruity type sweet note, not candy sweet or sugar sweet, but the kind of lightly sweet you get from eating the fruit. I think this is my favorite of the four.

My name for it: Black Cherry (cause that's what it tastes like!)

Final thoughts: I'm very impressed with all four of these offerings. I know a lot of my NET peers like the "bite" of the larger font tobaccos, but I prefer mine milder and these are right in my wheelhouse. Add these to the other QnJ NETs and I think QnJ is ready to play with the NET big boys.

I like bot the bite and the more mild ones. The liquids with bite are more my "after dinner mints" whereas the more mild ones are either all day vapes or at least a tank-full every now and again. And I agree with you here.

I mentioned it tasted like black cherry to me as well. For me anyway, that is part of what makes this a very compelling liquid - there isn't another that I've had that is really close to it :)

Once again, I agree. These latest four offerings are nothing more than rounding out an already great lineup of NETs from QnJ. I had tried four QnJ NETs previously quite some time ago (along with some non-NETs) and all of them fall in the same category...a medium font tobacco. All pleasant, all tasty, and none of them are too dry. I'm currently vaping on some Proudest Monkey (and have been the last couple hours) and enjoying it more with each pull. I have noticed with most of these QnJ NETs that juice feeding and wattage is very important. It can burn a little easier than most juices so you have to have good wicking and your wattage has to be dialed in appropriately. Even a slightly higher temp will alter these flavors quickly. At least that has been my experience.

If you've ever had black cherry koolade, that's kind of the flavor this has.

Perhaps black cherry is a better representation of this juice compared to my maraschino description. I find the cherry to be quite prominent in this juice and perhaps I am thinking maraschino only because it also has a strong flavor. But black cherry might be the more accurate descriptor. Either way, the vaper is left with no doubt he/she is vaping cherry. Quite impressed from a person who doesn't care for cherry. And it beats the hell out of Legend which pains me to say.

I am sure I am the least experienced (6+ months analog free), least “sophisticated” member of this contest crew. I don’t have a lot to “compare” the individual flavors to. I have had some NETs and enjoy the lighter, smoother experience than most “tobaccos” I have tasted. I am excited I have the opportunity to participate in this contest. I am currently on the beginning of a 7 week business trip with limited internet time so thought I would go ahead and post my submissions.

I wonder if my selection of 100% VG affected my overall taste experience. I won’t go into details, but I do find I am sensitive to PG and in my quest to lower my levels I selected the 100% VG. I vape 6mg but notice others selected that option also. I know some “flavors” benefit from some level of PG to bring out the flavor, so I look forward to being able to sample these in a 50/50 mix and see if I get more flavor. I am also a simple vaper. I have several variable volt egos, several mini egos, and yes folks, some 510 automatics for those times I just want a cigarette. I mostly use Kanger horizontal coil cartomizers, also have several EVODs, an IClear 16 a Kanger T3 and a bunch of CE4s.

All tested with one of my egos, I found 3.7 volts best overall. From reading about how NETs can gunk up coils, I purchased some Nanos to test with and I also have several unbridged 510 attys I dripped everything with. I am not as eloquent with words as others. I am also not as good at picking out individual nuances. So here goes:

Your name Turkish – my favorite of the group. Light, smooth, even flavor. Nice on its own, but I can also see it mixed with other flavors.

Names: Turkomania, Turkish Delight

Your name Fire-Cured – Stronger flavor than the Turkish. More “tobacco”y (is that a word?) than the Turkish, wonderful for those “I want a cigarette” moments :vapor:

Names: Ember Glo Tobacco, Warmed by the Fire

Your name Cherry – Very nice, subtle cherry. Tobacco neutral with cherry overtones/undertones. My second favorite of the group.

Names: Cherry Nuance, Cherry Bomb

Your name Vanilla – I guess this is where I really fall apart. I got almost no flavor at all. I do sometimes have allergies that act up and affect my taste, but I gave this several days, different times of the day, different environments? Dripped and clearoed. At times I did get a tobacco with a very subtle hint of vanilla, but after a few puffs it would go back to VG. This one especially I would love to try in a 50/50 blend because how others describe it is nothing like what I experienced. Could be my hardware, could be the VG, could just be me. I have never tried a vanilla tobacco, so I did not know what to expect, but I expected more than I got, especially since I enjoy the other flavors so much.

Names: Hint O’ Vanilla, Vanilla Intrigue

So that’s my take. I am enjoying reading other’s reviews and feedback. I learn a lot from these forums and this particular group I see elsewhere and respect their opinions. All variations of those opinions…. I am honored to be a participant in this contest, sincere thanks to Rich et all!

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...
