Just wanted to say thanks to ECF for being such an incredible source of newbie information. After reading all the beginners' info I could find here and shopping around with the forum suppliers, I got my ego-t 7 days ago this evening and smoked my last cigarette while waiting for the battery to charge (I didn't have to wait too long, both batts in the kit were mostly charged when I received them).

I stashed my pack of analogs in the garage in case of emergency, but I haven't even thought about them since -- actually had to think just now to remember where I put them.

Folks, I've done patches, gum, hypnosis, and pills. Going a week without a cigarette using any support method I tried was hard as hell. Without support, it was flat-out impossible to go more than 24 hours. Wife is still smoking and I already can't stand the smell -- that in itself is awesome, during previous attempts I'd be sniffing her second-hand by now.

Without ECF I have no doubt I would have wound up with something totally unsatisfying that would have soured me on the whole e-cig idea, and I'd probably smoke until it killed me. So, in short, this is awesome. I'm breathing better and have more energy already. Totally life changing stuff.

Welcome to ECF. Happy to hear your story. Most of us start this journey basically hoping to cut back on the stinkies and before we know what happened we find we can no longer stand the originals. Hopefully your wife will see how this is going for you and will make the switch too.

Welcome to ECF, I'm so happy you found this place:)...I think my favorite part of vaping, is now being able to sit beside strangers in my university classes, and strike up conversations with them knowing I don't reek. In the past I would zip straight to the back of the lecture hall...Now that I think about it, I can't believe I spent soooooooooooo much of my life smelling terrible....

Yeah that's the only problem. She started cautiously curious and has become extremely anti in the last few days. Any attempt I make to dispel any of her concerns is rather ignored, and I'm "being cranky" if I try to explain how I've justified the switch a week into it. Just had an argument about it actually, the gist of which surrounded how I'm apparently vaping more than I smoked -- though I'm aware of the increase, and am adjusting nicotine to compensate... I think she's hung up on the newness of it, plus some attempt to equate a cartridge with a certain number of cigarettes...

Oh well. Basically just leaving it with her that there's one loaded and ready for her if she decides to try it. All I can do. :(

Congratulations!! The tobacco is a real stinker to quit, that's for sure. I'm glad you made the switch!

I think quitting smoking is like anything else...you gotta find what works for you, but you have to really want to do it. I tried most of the methods you mentioned, but with the exception of a full year smoke free (when I decided to run a marathon) all of them failed. I'm very hopeful with the e-cigs!

Again, congratulations on your success!

Same here... will be 7 days for me tomorrow.

I suggest a read on the health forum about the expected odd symptoms you get when you quit. Today I started getting the mouth sores and suddenly my cough increased a bit. Never realized how these analogs mess with your body. But overall I feel way better!

Congrats and stick with it... I certainly am.
