I ordered some essencial oil flavorings from loranns, the cinnamon and the peppermint.

I got them today and dropped some into my vegetable glycerine and it turned into a thick mess.........what did I do wrong?

I LOVE DIY flavorshacks red hots flavor, it's a cinnamon flavor so I tried to make my own and failed miserably.

Did I use the wrong stuff?????:confused::cry:

I get the feeling that diy juice is somewhat of an art and may be trickier than it appears. I went out and bought all of the stuff needed and the only thing I can come up with is pretty disgusting flavor(s).

My usual modus operandi is 'back to the drawing board' until I get it right but I can't even think of options at this point. It's nic juice, flavoring, PG, and maybe some vodka so I'm not sure what to rewrite on the drawing board that's going to make much of a difference.

Reading the diy threads, it seems as if lots of people are lovin' it up over there, how so?...you've got me.

Best of luck and let us know if you figure it out.

Neither here nor there
Here's a tip from Geeker:

Get two bottles to save your reject DIY liquid.
One for fruit flavors, and one for sweets/coffee.
The conglomeration of mixed flavors seems to be quite vapeabe.
So I have banana/strawberry/mango etc in the fruit bottle, and coffee/maple/toffee etc in the other.
Marshmalow flavoring adds sweetness to either mix.
It's hard to keep track of exactly the mg nic content unless you keep a specific record, but I never put anything stronger than 24mg in there so I know that's the strongest it will be.
The only thing I have ever made that was so disgusting it had to be thrown out was made using Lorann's Bavarian Cream.

Will that work? I could probably pick it up at the grocery store...........

I think so. I picked up some imitation banana from walmart grocery tonight and post a thread asking about it.
You may want to try a google search to find out what is in "extractives of cinnamon" first. I'm new at this myself and am not entirely sure what's safe and what's not.

LisaLisa,
I have found these flavorings to be really good. Tasty Puff Tobacco Flavoring.
They also are strong, (not weak like some of them)
I ordered the minimum of 6 bottles and I can tell you, the midnight spice is to me all the cinnamon I could ask for. and as for the chocolate, which a very hard flavor to get,, awesome. Just give a look. I will purchase more when i get the urge, but just my imput...

I use small amounts of oils for flavoring (love the Lorann Cinnamon!) but I add a bit of vodka to help it emulsify. I also use a mix of PG and VG.

You might want to try Lorann's Cinnamon Roll (which is not an oil) and see if you get the flavor you are after.

Some people feel that oils shorten the lifespan of atomizers. Some believe it is fine. The choice is yours.

Good luck on your quest! :)

I havent had a problem using cinnamon from loranns. Once you use it it is hard to get rid of the flavor so I use just 1 atty for it. You can make it super strong with very little flavoring added. I have not noticed my attys failing from it. But proceed at your own risk.

PS: Lisa, did you thin out the VG before use with some drops of water or PGA?

Aside from avoiding oil-soluble flavors, you might also have more luck diluting your vegetable glycerin 15% with distilled water. (Distilled water has none of the minerals that might also contribute to atomizer buildup). This gives it a viscosity (thickness) closer to PG. Take a look at some of the recipes around here w/ VG.

Hmm, I kind of like the bavarian creme but it is super strong as is the cinnamon. I have used the Loranns cinnamon with no ill effects but only use a couple of drops for 10ml, allow it to sit a while after mixing. Try it then and add sparingly untill it is just right for you. The flavor does linger for a long time in an atty so any other flavor you use will have a little sting to it for a week or more.

No I didn't thin it out. You're using the cinnamon oil and aren't having any problem with it? It's destroyed one of my attys.
