I am going to have to take the e cig out side too because my teenager says it smells good. I don't want her to take a liking to the sweet smell. As one day she may want to try it and i also have 2 other kids that i don't want to pic up this nic or analog habit. As for my eldest age 21 she has picked up this habit and i am going to let her know about vaping in hopes it saves her from the consequences of analogs.

Anyone else who has kids ever say they like the smell of your e cig?

Many non-smokers have said they like the smell of my vape. To date, none have tried it--except for one who was an occasional and very rare social smoker anyway. He treats my vape the same way he treated my cigarettes, social and very rare. The rest are just happy I no longer smell like stale smoke.

Unflavored is a great idea from Peacepipe, and definitely talking to your children about it. But unless they actually show real interest, I wouldn't worry too much.

My daughter likes the way my Yankee candles smell...I don't think she will start eating them. Explain to them the dangers of nicotine addiction. Enforce on them how bad the withdrawal can be. I really doubt you going outside will make a difference in whether they decide to try e-cigs or not.

Yup, my kids like the smell (18 and 13). We play "guess the liquid" whenever I get a new batch in.

They've also been pestering me for years to quit smoking and watched their grandfather die of pulmonary sclerosis. When I started vaping we had a nice chat about what it was, why I was doing it, and why they should never, ever go near it (I told them it was radioactive and possessed by demons).

We can't hide the world from our children (as much as my wife would like to). The best thing is to be honest (and frank) with them and hope that they'll make the right decisions.

My kids know what I'm doing, why I'm doing it, and why they shouldn't. Nuff' said.

It's hard to win with kids. If you do it in front of them, it's normalized. If you hide it from them, it must be something neat and awesome.

All you can really do is give them all the information you can and hope they'll make the right choices.
too bad there is not a like 3 times button. This is very true. My mother smoked. She told me and my brother why we should not. Did not make one wit of difference. Unless you can raise your children on an island where smoking and vaping were never heard of they will make a choice on their own.

It isn't a good addiction to have. Nicotine does nothing for me but burn through my wallet. I only notice the nicotine when I haven't had it. Just like an opiate addict I only vape to prevent the "sickness." I definitely can't quit either. At the end of the day, it's just the lesser evil I have to live with because of bad choices I made long ago. I would hate to see a young person pick up vaping if they arent truly addicted to tobacco. Their brains don't need nic to fuction like mine does....if only I could go back to having that brain.

Same issues here with my boys. It scared me when I saw their reaction to the smells and started vaping outside and in my room with the window open. I have had many talks with them about how bad it is. My son is an athlete and so was I. I started at the age 13 and by the time I was in high school I was already having trouble running long distances. I told him his athletic dreams will be over if he starts smoking. I have a cold sore right now and told them the liquid in there is very poisonous and it caused this sore.

My daughter loves the smell of mine. She's 11. We had a really long talk just yesterday, in fact, about how it's important to realize this is not a 'safe' alternative to smoking. It's 'safer' but not 100% without it's drawbacks and how nicotine CAN kill you. ( I'm not beyond little embellishment if it means I save my kid from pick up the habit.) We also talked about how addictive nicotine is, looked at pictures of smokers' lungs, and talked about what happens at the end of things like COPD and lung cancer. She said she wouldn't be beyond vaping 0 nic flavors, and I asked her why she would want to do that. She replied that she thought it was very Sonic Screwdriverish and looked like a neat device. I told her that it's much MUCH cheaper to just get herself a Pez dispenser, and she could get pretty much the exact same flavors for pretty darned cheap. She said " Oh, is it pretty expensive?" I said " The cost comparison from Jolly Ranchers or Pez dispensers is a pretty significant jump to vaping..." She replied " Oh, well nevermind. I don't want to spend that kind of money, or risk getting the nicotine." There's something to be said about running a frugal household. :)
