I didn't honestly know where I should have put this topic so feel free to move to the appropriate sub forum. Anyways I bought a new ohm reader about ehh a month and a half ago and for some reason whenever I put an atty on it the thing shows 8.8.8 but still shows a 1 when nothing is on it. I have tried replacing the batteries, redoing the build, trying several different attys on the reader but still get the same result. Is there anything I can do to fix my reader or am I just completely out of luck? Also might I add that it was taken very well care of. Always stayed in my vape tacklebox when not in use, was never dropped, and was never stored in above average heat which makes the situation all the more irritating.

EDIT: Turns out the center pin was pushed all the way down and was solved by simply pushing it back up through the glue, sorry for wasting anyones time and thank you again for taking the time to read over this issue!

Thanks for your time,
Daniel

I had one act up on me once. I finally came to the realization that there was a little juice on the 510 pin of the atty which apparently got into the ohm reader's 510. I did my best to clean it and after about a week it started working again. I thought for sure it was shot. And this wasn't one of the $15 ones either. Although, I've never had a problem with any of the Chinese ohm readers. Check it out, you may have introduced some liquid into the connector.

Turns out I had my center pin pushed down all the way, fortunately I was able to push it back up through the glue and for the time it is working once again, thanks for the reply!

This one of those $5 510 readers???? Or a real VOM.
It is in fact a cheap 15 dollar reader that I bought from lightning vapes. Not my best investment.

Turn the reader on, gently screw the atty onto the reader until it makes contact, then just a smidgeon further, barely 10degree more. Never tighten it down all the way, could cause the reader 510 pin to recess and short. Try to use a toothpick, paper clip, fine flat head jewelers screw driver to bring the pin back up. Most readers will read 0.01 or 1.00, or 1.1.1, -.-.-, or such when no atty connected, this is the short code or no contact code.

Glad to see you got it figured out. I'd had this a couple times happen to me. First time because I was building on the ohm meter which was stupid to do. Another time I had juice on the contact, or the contact just needed to be cleaned. It always seems like the simplest problem to fix once you figure it out.

I will definitely be keeping this in mind! I've learned my lesson with screwing atomizers on too tight, first a crushed sigelei 150 center pin and now this reader. Thanks for the reply!

I appreciate it! That's the truth alright, had myself worried for a while thinking I wouldn't be able to build for another week while I waited for a new one to come in the mail, very happy to find out it was fixable by just pushing the center pin up, no more overtightening for me!
