So I bought a ohm/ volt reader for my rebuilds. It recently started giving me strange numbers and when I unscrew it and rescrew it on the ohms change drastically. Is this common and is there a simple fix?

You either have some of your posts screws loose, or a bad connection in the ohm reader. Friend of mine has one and his does the same thing. You have to tinker with it to get it to read correctly
If you put a coil setup on your ohms meter and the #'s keep changing (i.e. 5.21 to 2.10 to 3.85), something is wrong with the build.
What I usually do to check whether it's my build or the ohms meter is to put on one of my aspire coils (or some other type you *know* the ohms of) and see if it registers correctly. If it does, problem is with your build. If it doesn't, problem could be your meter.
