It's sorta true, but you need to know what gauge wire you're using, then find out the ohms per inch and you can make it to that length. The number of wraps would depend to some extent on the thickness of what you're wraping around, if you're always using the same sized wick you'll figure out the number of wraps pretty quickly.

The length wire that you are using and the resistance of that wire determine the total resistance of the coil.

If you are going to be building coils go out and buy a multimeter; you can pick one up for about $15 at Wal-Mart.

Gotcha, so i got lucky on the first rebuild then? I may have to pick up a multimeter then =) thanks!!

Maybe i will just stick with the same type of wick and coil i purchased and worked then....thanks!!

Even using the same materials, there's always a chance of inadvertently changing something or shorting the coil on itself/the metal part of the head. Trust me, I've done that, and thought I knew well enough..didn't have my meter handy cause we were moving, dropped it on an Ego, fired, entire bottom of the Evod I was using lit up orange and the battery failed instantly. Well, probably the control circuitry failed, as it didn't explode, but still.. Always have a multimeter, or a mod with an ohm reader if you're going to do rebuilds. You'll save yourself money and potential injury in the long run.
