My husband and I are both vaping :D

I ordered myself a reo mini and I'd like to get him something good for Christmas so.....

which unit is better?

A provari
ProVari - Ultimate Variable Voltage E-Cig

or

the precise
"The Precise"

I don't know much about each of them but I'm kind of leaning towards the precise because I don't think he'd be into all the digital fidgeting that comes along with the provari...but I don't know.

thoughts?

No idea on the precise. I do have a provari I ordered from vapour solutions. I absolutly love it. There really isn't any digital fidgiting for the most part. I load a carto with my favorite juice, and maybe try a few different voltages the first time (if it's a new juice or carto), but after that I just use it normally. It is an amazing device. It's really crazy to think that 0.1 difference in voltage changes the taste so much

I've been looking at the GGTS but to limited or no stock I have been checking out the Provari (based on feedback from the forums saying it is better than the GGTS and cheaper). However, I've looked into the Precise and it looks awesome plus its available. My spouse and I have been using the Volt and now I am checking out mods for the both of us. Lately I've been leaning towards the Precise. Until you use one you won't know what you really want. I am looking at something with a bigger battery and feed system. Don't know if I have helped but I like the Super T products as I'm not really looking at vv. however if you want vv the provari would be the way to go.

They're kind of two different beasts.

The ProVari is a variable voltage mod that lets you tailor your vaping experience to both the hardware you have attached to it (resistance/ohms of the cartomizer/atomizer/clearomizer) and your own personal tastes. I bought a ProVari simply because I wanted to be able to give myself the experience I wanted and not be limited to my hardware. (Well, within reason; it does have limitations when using low resistance cartos; I'm vaping on a carto tank right now with a 1.4-1.6ohm SmokTEch dual coil and can't go past 3.8-4V because it thrashes the amp limiter.)

The Precise on the other hand is a bottom-fired all-mechanical stainless steel 3.7V mod, and is only designed to function at 3.7V. (You might be able to stack two 18350s or RCR123As (Precise P18) in there for 6-7.2V vaping but I don't think it's recommended.) The main deal with the Precise is its fit and finish, both being of highly superior quality. However, there is an advantage to all-mechanical mods in that they can be easily repaired with spare parts if something fails on it. It's bottom-fired though (your pinky activates the button on the end of the device) so that might take a little bit of getting used to.

If you're looking for an all-mechanical 3.7V mod that's still nice looking but has a more palatable price tag, you might want to look into the Alpha or Omega. electronic-cigz.com carries both. On the other hand if you're looking for an inexpensive VV mod, you might check out the Lava Tube/L-Rider/Knight Rider/VV Mod/Eliit VV/Whatever else our Canadian vendors are calling it lately. For an even cheaper VV solution, and if you don't mind buying US and having a box mod form factor, MadVapes carries a variable voltage box mod for $30. Shipping's pricey though, but fast.

The precise seems to be a great unit,I was just comparing it to a GLV2 for my first mod purchase.
I went with the GLV though,as the precise is quite pricey.

I own both a Darwin and a Lava Tube. They are differnt but similar. They both allow you to adjust the "heat" the atty gives off. The Darwin measures this in watts, while the Lava Tube measure this in volts.

The Darwin is a "smart" unit, so if you like a paticular juice at say 7.5 watts, no matter what resistance your atty is, it will adjust the voltage, so you are providing exactly the same wattage. It has a build in battery, and is a flat / rectangular shaped. If the battery dies, you have to ship it back for replacement, kind of like any apple product. It does come with a 2 year warantee. With a 300.00 price tag (incl shipping / tax).

The Lava Tube is much like a provari, but at half the cost. It is also easier to use, adjust the voltage. You don't need to read an instruction manual to learn how to use it, or learn to memorize. Hit +, it goes up, Hit - it goes down. It's a tube shape, hense the name, and comes with 2 batteries, that are interchangable, and replaceable.

With the above said, while I like both units, I would NOT have purchase the Darwin had I known I was going to have the Lava Tube. Where they basically do the same thing, allow me to adjust to my vaping preffernce, I would recommend the Lava Tube, simply for it's price tag. For Under 150.00, including tax and shipping, (half the cost of a Provai or Darwin), you get a great PV.

VV is a nice option, but some of those mods are huge and ugly. Some of those silver mods and juice tanks look like you're putting a liquid tipped vibrator up to your mouth lol

I found an LR and 3.7 volt combination much more appealing than searching for higher volts from big mods.

I really like my Reo mini. I can't put it down. I bought a used blue one, but I'm awaiting shipment of a new black one. The Reo is a solid performer and fits nicely in my hand. My favourite PV yet, wish I hadn't spent $100's on other units.

I think I even need to cut down on my nic. I'm getting headrushes like I did when I first started vaping.

I'm with you Roland. 1.5 Ohms (atty, not carto) on a 3.7 volt device is the money maker. I have a Sabre Touch Vari Volt that goes unused. It's only needed for my random selection of SR stuff.

I use my Reo Grande and Ego, and then my Black Beauty when the Ego is charging. The only thing I find frustrating about my Reo is that the Ego atties don't work flawlessly with a bottom feeder and adapter. The catch cup inevitably fills up and it gets a bit gurgly. I've tried all the atties and cartos I care to, and I can't seem to shake my love affair with the Ego LR atty.
