Ok, USA
I didn't hear about that!! Where did it touch down at?

I think it was somewhere southwest of you... maybe... not really sure, so don't quote me on that... I don't really pay much attention if it's not near me... or headed toward me. It was on the ground for like 45 minutes or something. A friend of mine's hubby is a storm chaser and his footage is going to be on GMA tomorrow morning. Crazy stuff..... I like open field tornadoes.... not tear your crap up and leave you homeless tornadoes....

I've lost count of how many tornados I've seen.

I grew up in North Texas, was stationed in OKC & Altus, OK, as well as Wichita
Falls, TX.

In Altus, I was on the Civil Defense Weather Watch team. We went sat outsite town in our cars with CB radios every time there was a severe storm.

My (then) wife stayed home the first time I went out alone and was petrified. After that, she & my son were in the car with me each time. Although it probably sounds dangerous, we had the best visibility of an approaching twister & were always stationed at a crossroads so we had our choice of the best way to "bug out".

I've never 'seen' one... I have a storm shelter, but it's so old, that I think I would rather take my chances with the tornado. *bath tub and a mattress = redneck storm shelter*

Better re-think that one. The aftermath of a tornado will leave a BIG impression.

I saw a 2x4 plank stuck through a car's tire (in the sidewall & out the tread) and that tire was still holding air. You don't want to be around when stuff starts flying around at 300 mph! 8-o

I was totally kidding.... I remember May 3rd, here in Moore... not pretty...

In the words of Ron White... "It's not THAT the wind is a blowin'... it's WHAT the wind is a blowin'"

Hey PawPaw when did you live in Altus? That is where I'm from, lived there about 18 years or so. Have seen a few tornadoes growin up, but nothing too close.

I was only about 5 min ahead of the May 3rd storms on I-40 heading to Okmulgee that day. Was very ominous outside that day, and storms don't usually scare me too much, but that one looked down right nasty, so I didn't stop at the gas station I normally did, and I'm really glad I didn't.
