i did my first microcoil "attempt" today. i say "attempt" because i'm not really sure if i managed to get ANY of the wraps to touch, so it may not qualify as a true micro. (looks over shoulder for the Standard Coil Police)

This was my third attempt. I messed up the first attempt and tossed it. The second attempt actually looked half-way decent and tested fine on the ohmmeter...

But i had Statistic's video playing over and over all the while i was doing this. Right when I was trimming the leads, his video hit the part where he couldn't stop laughing, and i began laughing so hard i cut the lead on the wrong side of the post :)

So my first working attempt certainly ain't pretty but i am content that it vapes just fine. (And i'm betting it vapes better than Newman's attempt, soooo.)

thank you super_X, pdib, Stat, supertrunker and whoever else i forgot

Right on Captain D!!

Sorry I cost you a coil :( lol. I don't feel too bad though.. when I started out on rba's it was more than a week, more than two dozen coils and more than a dozen AS mesh wicks before I got my first one to actually work at all and I finally got my first taste of dry SS mesh, unforgettable! LOL

What gauge wire are you using?

Cool. Now you're one of the "big boys".....that looks like a LOT of wraps.....but it's too small (old eyes) and I can't count 'em. How does it vape? Pretty good?

actually, i lost count of the wraps. i used 28g and wanted to end up around 2 ohms and this one came out at 2.4. i was afraid 28g would be too low so i overcompensated. i put it on a VVG and it's vaping fine, but i'm still dialing it in. better than the cisco spec atty that was on the VVG, so i'm a happy camper.

my first coil (not a micro) a few weeks ago using 30g or 32g took hours to get the wires in the holes. this one took 15-20 minutes. my old eyes seem to have found a sweet spot at 28g. i can actually see the wires :)
