I've been vaping for 3 months and haven't touched a cigarette since I started. Until last weekend I hadn't touched my lighter either. I decided to start the grill last weekend and couldn't find any matches so I dug out my old lighter that I had put away when I quit smoking. Instead of putting it back where I found it when I was done I just stuffed it in my pocket, that night without thinking I put it down where I used to keep it when I was smoking.

All this week I have been picking it up just like when I was smoking, there is no thought to doing it, it is just a habit. I get to work in the morning and guess what's in my pocket? My lighter. I don't remember putting it there but I know I did. It has been following me around all week, it is sort of funny but scary at the same time.

I smoked for 42 years and I guess this shows how easily we can fall back into old habits, even though this one isn't harmful it is a remnant of my smoking days. People like me can't afford to even try another smoke and take the chance that the smoking habit comes back because that behavior is so ingrained in us.

Yeah, I'd probably be putting it in my pocket all the time too. Similar thing happened to me, I made the mistake of leaving my smokes where I usually have them, the day after I had my last one planned. 5 min after awakening, I'm sitting there with one automatically in my hand, like it just appeared from thin air, lol.
