Do you miss the old habits you had with smoking?

Sucker_dad, I hear you regarding the momentary peace and quiet, the short break from kid mayhem inside, the chance to gather one's thoughts. You can come up with new excuses to step out for a moment. I check the mail, take out the trash, sort recycle stuff in the garage, clean a window, prune a wayward tree branch, sweep the sidewalk, pull a few weeds, walk the dog, pick up the yard... You can get a new hobby that requires you to step outside, maybe some patio plants to care for, a small woodworking project, some mechanics to tinker with in the garage. Or you can set up the corner of a room (with a door that closes) with a project to tinker with. This time of year you can go wrap a gift or put up Christmas lights. Or make a coffee and step out with it to watch the sunset. An interest in astronomy is a great nighttime excuse to step outside.

There is nothing about smoking that I miss. I didn't like smoking but until I found E-cigs I couldn't give them up. My old smoking habits quickly disappeared.

I might however go back to carrying a lighter. They do come in handy on occasion.

Lol, I still keep one in the car right next to my "emergency use only" disposable njoys. I also keep one in my coil rebuilding case. :)

I still go outside during the warmer months, so that routine is alive and well. This will be my first winter that I won't have to freeze my bum off 1-2 times and hour though, and I'm happy about that. :)

I have an inside - young Rottweiler, I have to go outside almost as much to take her out as when I was smoking. She is almost 5 months now, I suppose as her insides get moosier (moose - ee -er, she is growing fast :p ) and the time between her potty breaks naturally get further apart I will be weaned from frequent outdoor vape breaks.
I guess if I did not have the puppy right now I would be missing the opportunity to get off the couch, put my coat on over my pajamas and go outside in the cold rain...

I could learn to not miss that.

My dog gives me a "Aren't you coming???" look as I let her out. Hell no, it's cold out!

I still typically go outside to vape at work. Same amount of time basically. I do it to get outside and to give me a break. Even though I technically can vape at my desk. I do occasionally do that as well. But I found, keeping the same 'habits' made the transition easier.

Maybe if I lived somewhere cold though, my thoughts on that would be different.

Nothing I miss at all: I would say smoking was simpler than vaping and that is something I’ve not missed but thought about recently. But then that can apply to lots of thing it doesn’t make them better, eg a type writer is simpler than a computer. Fancy using ECF on a type writer? Tough luck isn’t possible.

Oh man. I'm a stay at home mom to 3. Going outside to smoke was my only time away from the kids. Honestly it played a huge party in why I kept smoking. I do occasionally go out to vape but it's iowa and it's freaking cold. Lol

Now you can have them go outside instead. :)

I love mine, but sometimes I just want to stick my head in the oven. YMMV.

So happy mine are all out of the house now. I can have them come over and kick them back out, drop off the grandkid and pick her up before patience wears thin.

There is more than a lonely empty house on the other side of them growing up. You get your life back.

Disclaimer: I love each and every one of my precious children, I just do not have to love them in my house everyday. :)

Do I miss coming back to my desk at work after a smoke and my coworker saying I stink?? Not one bit!! I do miss being able to tell dirty clothes from clean clothes on the floor though... yea I live alone ;)

OK I have a confession. I would go out back and find a tree to water enjoy my smoke and think but it really feels stupid to just go outside to pee on a tree. Sorry if that's too much info but it's true. LOL I know I am redneck through and through.

Dude, that isn't redneck, that's just being a guy! From the North Pole to the South Pole, men may fight about everything but the one things we all enjoy is being outside alone and ....... And if there is snow, all the better! It doesn't matter if you are straight, gay, religious, atheist, black, white, yellow, brown or any other mix in this kaleidoscopic pantheon of man, the one thing we share: the enjoyment of is returning the beverages we rented earlier. We just don't do it when women are around because they wouldn't get it and would also think we're disgusting and for the most part, they are right about that but not about watering the plants just because we can.
