There could be several reasons why you're getting an "old sock taste":

The Juice maybe? Could be the juice is bad. Juices taste different whether dripping, using a tank, or using a cartomizer.

Maybe a wicking issue? Your juice may be too thick (high VG) and not running to the coil as fast. Try higher PG liquid, which are thinner and have the ability to wick faster.

Power too high? I would turn the volts/wattage down on whatever device you're using. I would do this on every new atomizer. Then gradually move up slowly to your desired taste. Setting the watts/volts too high initially will burn your cotton and won't go away until you replace the coil again. Once it's burnt, it's hard to rid the burnt hit taste while you're using the same burnt coil.

Or maybe just a terrible atomizer. Generally, Aspire coil heads are some of the best, out of the box.

Welcome to ECF!

Which Aspire Tank/RTA do you have?

Which device(mod)?

What wattage are you vaping at?

I have 5 - Atlantis IIs and a Triton. Did you put e-liquid 2 to 3 times on the wicking cotton on the sides of the atomizer, and then abt a quarter to a half of a dropper down the top of it? It is messy but the best thing to do is to really wet the cotton, fill the tank, and then with the atomizer in the tank, draw through it really hard 3 to 4 times to make sure it flows, BEFORE you "light it up" for the first time.

Thanks everybody. I am thoroughly cleaning and drying the tank, lowering the voltage. I will try a new coil and let you know how it goes tomorrow. I am using 60pg/40vg juice. This is my 11 day without a cig. I hope I can get this fixed soon.

Big interwebz /Hi5 to you! all those that listed recommendations are solid and one of those should work. and whenever you can. buy yourself a back up mod and tank, just in case something happens. that will help you in case something awful happens from going back to the smokes.

It's a little learning curve since it's new to you but you'll get everything very quickly. It's not hard.

I woke up this morning and the problem seems to have fixed itself. It appears that priming the new coil wasn´t enough, overnight wait primed the coil well. I think the problem was a little bit of everything:

1. Priming the coil just wasn´t enought, overnight did the trick.
2. New Aspire K1 backup tank. Used it without washing first.
3. Changed from Kanger vv to eleaf istick TC40W without starting at very low power (now it is at 8w)

I will NEVER make these mistakes again. That was one nasty taste  I think that experience was my vaping baptism under fire.

Now I have a backup too. On to Day 12 without a cig (first time in 40 years).

Yes all the above mentioned can conspire to produce the locker room jazz. Oxidation's I think the culprit. You hit dev and it sits with wick dryin' out…whammo. Coil startin' to go bad (getting crudy or shorting) can only make it 10x worse.

Done a few of these things and found that priming the coil/wick with straight VG really opens up performance. Both for taste and volume and anything after whether a mix of pg/vg…or just the latter. Sometimes just priming it again with some vg or vaping a short tank will clear a prematurely saturating head gaining you some time. So keeping some plain no-nic base around can be rewarding.

Good luck. :D

p.s. Don't be afraid to run some power. Avg vaper's runnin' bout 17-22W. And while some juices are marvelous cool, many req warmth to bring out their best.

welcome and glad you joined. Grats on quitting!

Yes with prebuilt coils even well primed it usually takes some time for them to be fully broken in.

If you ever want a prebuilt coil that you do not have to prime, no break in period and will probably produce vapor that tastes better than 90% of the cotton prebuilts out there, check out ceramic coils.

I recommend the Cerabis. Have one myself, the flavor is better than some of my RTAs and better than the Crown (which is well known for taste). Just my 2cents.
