I know it's mostly fun and games down here in our beloved EC, but I did want to pause for a moment to send good thoughts and wishes to Kate.

Unless you've been living in a bubble the past few weeks or so, you know that Kate has been having a difficult time. As most of us know, Kate suffers from mental illness, and I'm afraid that events over the past few weeks have caused a great deal of stress for her.

She left VF several days ago after a disagreement there, and then went back to Right To vape to rest. Without going into specifics, some really horrible things were said by many different people, and it degenerated into--well, I don't even know what to call it.

I was on Right to vape yesterday, and it was clear that Kate was having difficulty distinguishing reality from her imagination, and it was painful and scary to witnesses. She's now basically gone inactive from Right To vape, and I'm really not sure if she's involved with the e-cig community at all right now . . . or the internet for that matter.

In any event, the point of this post is not to gossip, but I know that Kate has some friends here, and I guess I wanted to give folks a head's up so that if they run into nasty stuff being said on other forums or whatever, they'll try not to judge.

I am hoping that wherever she is, she's getting love, support, and help.

Sorry. Don't mean to be Debbie Downer. I'm just feeling so very sad. Mental illness is such a cruel disease.

Thanks for posting this Julie...
I too, was at RTV on Saturday night, and can back up what Julie is saying. It wasn't pretty.
I'd like to expand that a bit however, and point out that lately, it seems as if a goodly portion of the people frequenting these forums, don't give a damn about the fact that there are people with feelings, emotions, thoughts, dreams, and lives, just like the rest of us, that post here. I can't believe the harsh way that they are treated. Here in the EC, at least, we seem to treat each other with respect and dignity. I causes me to wonder why it can't be like that elsewhere. Maybe I'm just venting my frustration, but it has really gotten to me lately, to see the bashing of anything and anybody in these rooms.
I guess what I'm trying to say, is that I would like to see all of us, myself included, get back to the way we were a few months ago. Back to the point where we didn't hesitate to help a noobie, as opposed to bashing his/her lack of knowledge.
What happened at RTV is inexcusable, at least from my point of view, and never should have been allowed to happen. My thanks go out to Vicks and The Wiz, for creating and keeping this place relatively sane amidst the turbulent, frustrating times we face.
What's really the saddest point of all, is that it's just a few individuals whipping the rest into some kind of "feeding frenzy" not normally seen except in the company of sharks.
Oh well...... that's my for the day. I'm truely sorry if I've stepped on anybody's toes, but if I have, why is it that you feel offended? Feeling guilty? Hmmmmmm....

Chris

P.S..... Please get better soon Kate... we love you and miss you!!

Well, Chris, you haven't stepped on my toes. In fact, you've quite eloquently said pretty much how I've been feeling for awhile.

Leaving aside for a moment the mess that involved Kate, I just feel a lack of compassion and common courtesy "out there" that is soul-sucking. I don't know why it's so hard to treat people gently and kindly. As Chris said, there are people on the other ends of these screen names, people who have feelings, hopes, desires, and troubles just like the rest of us. But for some reason, some folks think being anonymous is a license to be cruel.

I've seen comments elsewhere that have left me feeling physically ill, comments so mean, so ugly, so personally directed that it's hard to believe that someone could actually hit the "submit" button.

EC has become a very quiet place, indeed. I guess I should offer to come on over and help Vicks clean out some of the cobwebs and mold in the dungeon. As "naughty" as our dungeon might have been, it has always been in good fun and if we perhaps had a bit too much fun at times, it has been harmless. I'm going to spend more time here, because this is a fun, friendly community, one where people actually give a rat's ... about each other.

So I'm going to make an EC pledge, one that involves having fun, but not doing so at the expense of others. (Well, unless it's one of us because if you can't abuse your friends, who can you abuse? :D) I am going to try to treat others the way I like being treated . . . with compassion, kindness, and respect.

Please, Lord, no one start singing Kum Ba Yah.

As for the cobwebs, no worries . . . I've been doing spring cleaning at my place (hey, better late than never), and I've found a good, thorough cleaning is good for the soul. :)

Wiz - don't use anything too harsh to clense that soul..... wouldn't want to damage it. No bleach, no industrial detergents....

How's about some Johnson's baby wash? :D

I'm in agreement with Vicks, here. I can't imagine your soul needs a serious cleaning . . . just a light dusting, perhaps. :)

As most of you know, I've been gone for a week or so and had no idea this was going on. I feel so bad for Kate. When she is feeling well, there is no one better at helping the noobies and everyone else. She is a kind soul. I hope she can get better and people will give her another chance. Poor thing. I agree with you all, that the forums have become hateful a lot of times. People do think anonymity gives them a license to be mean with no regard to the person on the other end of the screen. I know I'm not near as active as I once was. I need to get back on the bandwagon and help the noobies too. A lot of people helped me when I started and I should repay that. I too would like to see this place return to what it once was.
