I got my 510 almost 3 weeks ago and have been using it off and on, but as my analog supply is running low I've been using my ecig more often.

I am so happy to say that yesterday I only smoked 10 analogs all day long. And today its only 5 so far. I am amazed at how well this is working, I've tried all the different ways to quit and none were sucessful.

I know I haven't totally quit but to only smoke 5 cigs in a day is a miracle for me since I've been a pack a day (if not more) smoker for 35 years.

Debs63 don't be too hard on yourself. There is quite a learning curve to e-cigs and if you understand some things it may help you along the way.

A good part of smoking is habit. The lighting, puffing, the taste, the feel in your throat and lungs, the smoke you exhale and so many other little things. I once went into a completely pitch black room and smoked a cigarette with my eyes covered so I couldn't even see the burning ash. I then came out of that room and within a few minutes it was as though I never had one.

Tobacco contains over 4,000 different chemicals, many cancer causing, many toxic and many addictive. Besides the nicotine, there are many other addictive chemicals that are naturally in tobacco and others that big tobacco has intentionally put into tobacco to enhance your addiction so you keep spending your hard-earned money on their poison. E-cigs do not replace or substitute these "other" addictive chemicals so you will experience withdrawal from these without realizing it. But the good news is that you are getting the nicotine that your body wants.

You are and have to "train your brain" to accept vaping as your new way of smoking. There's gonna be some willpower and some just telling yourself "no" when the urge to grab a cig hits you. But for many (at least for me) there are not going to be any (or hardly any) withdrawal symptoms, at least not nearly as bad as if you quit smoking cold turkey without vaping.

Look at all the good stuff! No more trips to the store for cigs and continuously trying to make sure you've got some with you. No more lighters/matches, no more butts or ashtrays, no more smell on you, your house (and everything in it) and your vehicles and clothes. It won't take long and your senses of taste and smell will return with a vengeance in a good way. So many things that the tar of tobacco have stuck to will be much cleaner now. There are just so many advantages to what you are doing that are so much better and healthier for you.

Just give it your best shot and before long you just may wake up and realize that you didn't have one single analog the day before - then you can say that you quit smoking for good. In the meantime don't beat yourself up just because you grab a cig once in a while. For many, it takes weeks or even months to get "over the hump".

Wow thanks Shortstuff. I agree a lot of it is habit which is why I've been unsuccessful in the past. I think the hand mouth thing is the worst for me. I did get an automatic battery which seems to be working better for me as I don't have to push a button and can hold it like a real cig.

so today is a new day, so far only one reg cig and I've been vaping as and when needed. It does help too that I can vape at my desk at work so if I feel the urge I can just take a hit or two. what also helps is that little ticker I put in my signature. Even though its not accurate it still shows me what I can do if I put my mind to it and how much money I can save. Real incentive in just that.

Plus last night I went on an analog binge and never picked up my ecig at all and woke up this morning coughing more than normal and with a tight chest. I KNOW it was from all the analogs I smoked yesterday, and that is another incentive right there too. I felt really good yesterday morning when I woke up so I do know the difference.

And I'm really looking forward to remodeling the house with new curtains, paint and carpets/flooring with no smoke smell!!

It's good to hear stories about others struggling with the analogs. When you read 1000's of stories about people who quit day one, but not many who took their time, it is discouraging.

I myself have been at this a little over a month and have only had one analog free day. For the most part I've cut down dramatically from a pack and a half to about 5-6 a day. Which I was actually pleased with. I didn't go into vaping with the expectation of quitting completely. My goal was simply to supplement the cost of many useless cigarettes that I smoked everyday. I was able to cut out the hourly smoke at work and only had an analog after lunch. No more smoking in the car. No more chain smoking while watching tv. The only time that really got me on the analogs was when drinking. But I still cut that down quite a bit too. (A night of drinking would be a full pack onto itself, no only half).

Then something happened to disrupt my balance. I got real busy at work and a little stressed over it. I stopped reading the forums. I lost the drive. Then I went through a pack a day for 4 days and didn't even touch my PV. I'd all but giving up.

Then I came back to this site. I read other experiences, thoughts, ideas and passion and it makes me want to get back to it. So today I left my pack of smokes behind and am pleasantly happy with vaping again.

Verruckt, I totally understand what you are going thru. On Tuesday I had a very stressful day and did the same thing, hardly touched my PV but went thru almost a pack of reg cigs. I couldn't help myself, but man did they taste like crap 8-o

I went into this fully planning to quit analogs (and still do). The price is too high and there are health issues I want to avoid. But its true everyone is different and I think a lot of it is a state of mind. Just keep plugging away at it, I know for me the taste is really helping. I'm a coffee fanatic and the coffee flavor is divine. :thumbs:

Just like anything else there is no one way to do it. Don't beat yourself up if you don't quit in one day, really a month isn't that long (I've been smoking since I was 12 and am now 47). My Dad got hypnotized 20 years ago and never picked up a cig again. That worked for him but I know lots of people who it didn't work for. I've tried the gum, patches, cold turkey, and drugs, and the most I made it was 3 days. I'm quite proud of both you and myself that we have just cut down so much. The time will come when we can both say we've done it!!!! :thumb:
