Ive only been vaping for 8 months and have to say that my newest gear has taken my experience to a whole new level I wouldnt have though possible even in that short amount of time. Im loving the Subtank mini as well as the Kayfun V4 clones at just under an ohm, what Im not liking is the amount of juice Im now burning through so Im quickly starting to get a nice stash of juice to keep it going.:vapor:

I started brewing my own for just that reason.

With the advancement of regulated devices recently there's literally no need to sub ohm anymore.

This statement makes me laugh because I am sub-ohming on a regulated device right now. I have an Istick 30w with a Kanger Sub-Tank Mini. I think your confusing the sub-ohming with unregulated mechs and unregulated boxes. Not everyone that uses those sub-ohm though many do on them. Just like not everyone with a regulated device sub-ohm but there are many that do. You can sub-ohm on either these days.

Sure you can sub-ohm on regulated devices, but what he's saying is that there is no need to. With regulated devices you can reach high wattages with higher resistance coils.

For my edification, is this statement true or false?: There is no reason to sub-ohm if you are a mouth to lung inhaler. Sub-ohm builds are only advantageous to those whose do direct lung inhales.

I got my first mech in early January. First regulated mod in late January. So I have very limited experience, and can only speak for myself. I am a mouth to lung inhaler. At first I thought my gosh there is so much more airflow, these MUST be for lung inhalers. But I have adapted, and gotten used to a fast draw of about 1 to 1-1/2 seconds, instead of 3 to 4 seconds on a typical Ego setup. So yes, there is joy to be found for me with these new toys. However, I still use my Egos and clearos when I'm out running around, and only use the big guns at home.

To answer your question though.. I feel that your statement is MOSTLY true, and a little bit false. With a FAST draw, sub-ohm can be enjoyable if you are a mouth to lung inhaler. Sub-ohm builds are PROBABLY MUCH MORE advantageous to those whose do direct lung inhales. IMHO.

Sub-ohm or not, for some reason I dislike going much over 30 watts. I can't imagine 150 watts. It must be like vaping an arc welder.

Hi, I will vape both ways. I have a IPV3 150 watt with a collection of RBAS &RDAS. If I'm going to sub ohm depends on which juice I'm using and which tank I've chosen. Yes my mod is regulated but it allows a Sub ohm of down to .1 I don't go that low though. I'm happy at a .4 to .7 range. So it really just depends on what I'm using that particular day. Yes I like sub ohm vaping. No I NEVER use pre made sub ohm coils as I ALWAYS wind my own. Not sure what Sub Ohm would be like with a premade coil but everyone seems to like it so I'm sure it's good. But I don't Always Sub Ohm. The highest resistance I will go is 1.2 however when I'm not sub ohm. I would more say once you use a RDA/RBA you will never want to go back. The flavor is just incredible. But I will vape Both ways. Depends on what I'm using that day :)

Thanks X6X8! I'm also a mouth to lung vaper exclusively, so your comments are much appreciated. I'm vaping right now on a 6v mech mod I got in 2010 or 2011, so I'm very used to adjusting draw and duration of button press on the fly to get just the vape I want, but I need to get out of the vaping dark ages and am about to do just that.

Just got back into vaping, and the Subtank mini/nano with 1.2ohm works just fine for me with a Sigelei 100W+ or istick 30w, can still effortlessly blow clouds and it isn't too warm/harsh. Although I do have a pack of 0.5ohm OCC coils that I have yet to try in a low-nic juice (only 18mg so far.. and wow, feels like I'm inhaling battery acid). Have quite a few 6mg juices coming and even a 3mg, so I'll try my sub-ohm coils with that juice when it arrives to see if it is much different than 1.2 ohm at the same wattage.

Does anybody else on here feels once they start their new journeys with sub vaping they can't stop and find it hard jumping back to their old tanks set ups ?

I think another way to put this is not with subohm as the variable, but higher wattage.

After switching from EGO-style and clearos like the protank[1-3], mustank, etc, to an RDA, I cannot go back to the low powered setups.

I still build my RTAs between 1.0 and 1.5 depending on best flavor for the liquid in the tank. Running these at higher wattage than the 8w-11w entry level devices put out makes all the difference.

I haven't read all the posts but, I started on an N mini last October then got the usual suspects, Atlantis, an egrip with the rebuildable head, Kanger sub with the rebuildable head and played around with wattages and...I use them all, I like them all for the variety of experiences but the best overall flavor and vapor quality for me comes from my 2 N mini's powered at either 9 watts on an IPV 2s or 14 watts on an iStick 50w. (I think one of them is not giving an accurate watts reading.) The egrip rba is fine except I can't seem to stop it from leaking (The replacable egrip coils haven't leaked,) The Kanger sub is fine to but a completely different experience from the bvc's. Can anyone suggest what wire and wraps in those two rebuildables might get me close to the N mini experience? I'd rather be rebuilding.

I have 2 reos set up with .4 ohm builds, a tugboat on a vapor flask with a 1.5 ohm build, a marquis with a .3 on a hexohm v2, an Aeolus with a 1.2 on a vaporshark rDNA 40, subtanks with 1.2 ohm coils in them.....a k4 with a 1.4.......I guess I have to disagree with the op. I enjoy the variety we have available. I don't subscribe to the theory that there's a "best" way to vape. I do agree with the theory that there's a safe way and a not so safe way. My fear is, with ready made .2 ohm coils hitting the streets, the not so safe way will become more common.
