I use tumblr, and I just made this post to try to educate tumblr users, and a tribute to my one month free of smoking. If I have any information which is incorrect please make a post and let me know what is wrong and what I should add!

[COLOR=#000000][FONT=Lucida Grande]So today (February 11th) marks 1 month in which I have been tobacco/cigarette free. I was a pack a day smoker for about 5 years and have tried to quit numerous times using gum and cold turkey, but I have always been drawn back into cigarettes; my longest attempt being about 2 months. But now I finally feel as if I kicked the habit. I am also very proud of my wonderful girlfriend who is also trying to kick the habit. She is now 9 days free.

I have switched and am currently vaping (using e-cigarettes) as opposed to analog cigarettes. It still provides me nicotine, but none of the additional thousands of toxins found in tobacco cigarettes. Us vapers use e-juice which is a basic solution composed of only 4 ingredients. PG (Propylene Glycol), VG (Vegetable Glycerin), flavoring, and nicotine. It is a common misconception that nicotine is a carcinogen. Nicotine IS a very addictive drug, but then again, so is caffeine. 55% of the United State’s population consume caffeine on a daily basis, make it the most widely spread used drug in the USA. These two drugs are also very much alike. The reason why nicotine is generally looked down on is because of the most common form of intake, which is tobacco use. And with tobacco use comes carcinogens, tar, and carbon monoxide. If you are still not convinced that nicotine on its own isn’t health degrading, you better stop eating tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers, hot sauce. All of these foods contain nicotine, although not in the concentration found in tobacco.

The main point in the campaign against e-cigarettes is that it contains a key ingredient in anti-freeze. What these biased articles fail to mention is that while Propylene Glycol, is found in antifreeze, it has been deemed safe for human consumption, and is used in the antifreeze in water treatment facilities used to keep your drinking water from freezing while it is being treated in the water treatment facilities. It is also the used in your waterpipes in your house so that your waterpipes don’t freeze in sub-zero temperatures. This ingredient is the one responsible in the e-juice to produce the vapor. It is also the liquid used to make the vapor on fog machines used at concerts, theme parks, and the ones you use outside during Halloween. You can also find PG in hand soaps, lotions, toothpaste, mouthwash, and inhalers (just to name a few).

Vegetable Glycerin is a carbohydrate which comes from plant oils. It is a food grade substance used in sweeteners, bodybuilding supplements, cosmetics, and oral tablets. Tablets of VG are taken to facilitate hyper hydration.

All that is the flavoring is flavoring used in food which is safe for human consumption.

With all that said, I am happy to say that I have been vaping for 3 weeks now, and currently already on my 3rd personal vaporizer. I love it. I feel as if I have a new hobby now. It is also much more economical than smoking. I used to spend $5 daily on a pack of smokes. Vaping costs about $5 per week for cartomizers and e-juice.

I can breathe, taste, exercise, and smell once again. I no longer reek of stale cigarette smoke. Best of all, I don’t crave cigarettes any more.

Pictured above is my small e-juice collection, and my 3rd PV; a 900mah battery with a smoketech dual coil cartomizer tank system, with a 1.5ohm smoketech dual coil cartomizer. On my one month anniversary of quitting smoking, I am treating myself to a J-tank and probably more juice!

If you have never heard of e-cigarettes, I hope that I have provided you with some basic knowledge of the scene. If you currently are a smoker, I STRONGLY encourage you to at least give it a try.

Lastly, I would like to thank my girlfriend, Tara, for quitting with me. I honestly wouldn’t be able to quit if she wasn’t here to support me, quit smoking with me, and convert to vaping with me. I also would like to everyone who has supported me the past month or so. Mom, Maurice, Dad, Joe and Alexis. You guys are the ones who really started this motion and helped me to begin the rest of my healthy life.

Happy vaping!

-Mike
