Thanks for all the replies guys, appreciate it. I haven't slept all night due to this and have been searching the internet upside down to try figure this out.

The test was performed by medical staff that showed up for work. Seemed legit. It was a urine test where they put drops of urine onto a "drug tester" (similar to the one showing on Mythbuster video) and accordig to them the first test showed "full" (for opiates/morphine). They did a second test of the same urine straight after, and it showed "reduced" or "falling" values. What that actually means I do not know.

I had to sign the papers for an analysis on a medical lab, which I did. I was told the result of the medical analysis would take up to 2 weeks. I am working offshore on a PSV vessel, where they have zero policy when it comes to drug and alcohol, I was sent home as part of their routine measure on a positive result.

I ate some bread with seeds on it the night before, and for breakfast a few hours (6-8 hours) before the urine test. Other than that I had been drinking a few cups of coffee and some water. Was smoking my e-cig right before the test (litterally just a minute before). I do deep breaths, sub-ohm vaping.

Above is a picture of the breakfast/bread I ate. If those are the "correct" seeds to produce a positive test or not I do not know. Really am no expert on these things, and like I said - I never done drugs.

I found that Par-Glycerol-C (CV) could give a false-positive here: False Positives on Drug Tests

The liquid I've been vaping contains Glycerol and Propylene Glycol. If those are the same I don't know. Should be a 100% legit e-juice. Was bought at iSmokeKing, Charlottenberg, Sweden.

EDIT:
I can't seem to post the URL to the e-juice I've been using, the forum removes it. But it's sold by the ismokeking vapor shop originally located in the UK.

From what I can tell, Hatting makes plenty of breakfast rolls with poppy seeds. Looks like you have the one with the blue poppy seeds: Breakfast rolls with blue poppy seeds

The problem with shows like Myth Busters (even though I happen to agree with their findings this time) is that they arent comprehensive. They have no way of taking into consideration things like different seed manufacturers and varieties, or numerous other factors that could affect the outcome of an experiment. Yes, they test two or three different ways but if there are hundreds of possible combinations or factors involved then thats not a very effective test.

Under their tightly controlled parameters their results are accurate.

But to say that a myth is busted or proven true based on small sample is both untrue and arrogant to the extreme.

Honestly, the Hatting bread or the vapor seem unlikely to me, but I do not know anything else that might have caused it. I had 2 pieces of bread (picture) the night before, 2 in the morning for breakfast.

I've been trying to take care of my health all my life and been scared of unknowns.

I decided to go to my own doctor and get a drug test this morning. The initial urine test (analyzed locally) was clean. My doctor agreed to send this test to further analysis to try get to the bottom of what is actually causing the negative test yesterday. Those results will come Monday or Tuesday at latest. Until then I'm living in unknown, not knowing if I still got a job or what is happening in the future.

This is just a horrid situation.

Man, just relax. I was in the same situation like you. In my case it was cake with poppy seeds (lots of...) and according to the testing the doctors wondered why I was even able to walk straight. After clarifying about what i ate few hours ago they just told me to come 2 days later for another test and NOT EATING ANYTHING WITH POPPY SEEDS meanwhile. second test was negative and everyone was happy. Vaping has definiatly nothing to do with your issue, not even subohming.

It will all turn out fine, you'll see

Cheers. The nerves been calmed a little by the negative (second) drug test at my doctor today. I trust the analysis will remove any doubt illegal substances been used. At least it is my only hope. They will be able to see that right? Not much of an analysis if they can't differentiate poppy seed, e-cig usage or heroine/amfetamine and so forth.

The test isn't meant to differentiate or distinguish between delivery methods, just that you have a specific alkaloid in your system. If it's in your system, even at a trace level (which they are checking for), their alarms will go off---too bad they don't know when it's a false alarm. The tests like this are flawed and this just goes to show why it's flawed, but if you ate that type of bread the night before and the morning of, you have your answer. Is it any wonder how we guessed this? Coincidence? I think not. This should be moved to a you-know-what kinda forum. And if you open up with the same post, sans ecigs, you'll get the same immediate responses.

Cheers to you for being on your way, hopefully, to being back in the clear. Vape on. But be careful of the bread you eat. LOL. Back to vaping.

Why does everyone jump to the conclusion that if anything is out of the ordinary it must be vaping? I will never be able to comprehend this kind of logic. :-x
I don't know? I just picked up my new glasses last night. I can't get use to the progressive lenses, can't see through the bifocals. I'm thinking it may be the VG??:laugh:

Years ago I was being hired by a temp agency. After watching some silly safety video, the lady gave me a pee cup and said the restroom was down the hall. Nobody supervised my 'pee-break' so I could've used somebody else's urine to fill up the cup for all they knew, but I was clean so I wasn't worried. I went back to her office, she put a test strip of some kind into the cup and swirled it around. I was quite surprised when she said it tested positive for ....! She said, 'Hold on, let me try it again'. She put another strip in, swirled it around, and it resulted negative.

Your result might have been just a false positive. Have them redo the test, or have YOUR doctor perform it. You have apparently already gone to your doctor for the test, so just sit back and relax. I would talk to somebody at that company about what should be a 'paid vacation'..

If it was the bread I had for breakfast it will still show up as positive on analysis then? Wow. Thats quite bad though.

The test I did, at my doctors office, clearly must be taken into consideration here. I am 100% it will be clean even after analysis, there has never ever been any drugs or illegal substances in my system. Never.

Just curious, what is "bad"? Look up "the poppy seed defense". Whole new tests are being developed because there is a viable reason to look for other markers. I must say though, this is pretty far away from vaping and I don't suspect this thread to be around much longer. I know a lot of people don't read much into threads and your first post could be all they need to run with. Unfortunate, yes; a reality, yes.

p.s. You could edit your first post to say you now are aware that you consumed poppy seed bread before your test.

p.p.s. I could get very link happy here with actual medical and science related sites that show this is no myth, but the internet is obviously a thing all of us here have. But yes, a test can be wrong for any number of reasons, but if anyone thinks it is coincidence that poppy seed bread was eaten the night before and the morning off the test that came back positive...well, so be it.

Time to vape. This ain't about vaping.
