I will let others with more experience answer this one, but I myself just started vaping 2 days ago, and sometimes I get that harshness too (I use 24mg.) Many people here say that there is a learning curve to vaping, and I would have to agree. You will have to learn to inhale differently, and unless you are alergic to PG, you should learn to adjust with time and practice.

How does a person know if they are having a problem with the PG as opposed to too strong of a strength or just getting used to vaping? I switched to a grape flavor at 18 mgs. The grape is too sweet for my tastes (obviously I didn't make the right choices :() but it didn't hit me like the 24's. But, I do have a sore throat and a headache. I haven't really even used the e-gig that much today since I don't really care for the grape and that is what I took with me when I went away for the day so I wouldn't think it is from over use.

What is it like for others say the first few days of trying them? A few problems like I stated? No problems at all other than adjusting to the drawing technique?

That is exactly what I started with, my first drag I about coughed up a lung. Took it in way too hard and fast (got a little shot of juice in the mouth also) so I went down to slow sips pulling into my mouth then into my lungs, increasing the amount each time. No more coughing for me, it feels and tastes fantastic and I've now finally learned how to get good vapor.

My boyfriend on the other hand no matter what he tries he coughs hard with every drag, although he hasn't really practiced with it he just tries a hit now and then. Next order I'm going to order some lower nic cartos for him to try.

We both smoked Marb reds. I gather from all the reading I've done and the experiences we've had that it really varies greatly from person to person, you just need to find the flavor and nic amount that works for you.

I am a little surprised that the 24's hit me like that as I would think Marby's are about the strongest cig out there and I have been smoking them for about forty years. I thought I tried to take a nice gentle draw but maybe I didn't. I figured there would be trial and error but after trying one of the 18 mg flavors, I am hoping I don't have a problem with the PG. That would suck 8-o!

Sorry you don't like the grape but remember it will take at least a few days for your taste buds to refresh themselves. I had the same experience with the Redcow...it did not taste good...had kinda a perfume taste to it. I tried it again a few days after I started vaping and it was real good. Not saying you will ever like the grape..but taste buds get numb from years of smoking and when they start to come back you will know it..same with your sense of smell.

You said you have a sore throat and a headache. Was this brought on from the vaping? If so you might be having a reaction to the PG. Hopefully that isn't what it is...it could also be your nic level is too high. I know you said you smoked a pack of Marb. Reds a day but everyone is different..so you could be having a reaction to the nicotine. If your sore throat and headache was brought on from vaping it has to be one or the other and we will get it figured out.

I have to second this point. I also didn't really like the initial flavor of the Grape (or the Caramel), but both of them grew on me. Also remember, you are no longer destroying your taste buds or your sense of smell. Eventually your body will start to heal, and you will begin to smell and taste much more fully than you did while on analogs - your tastes will probably change in the coming months and weeks; a flavor you may not care much for now may change in the future.

I noticed this my first day: I couldn't smoke analogs anymore without chewing gum because I can't stand the taste of tabacco (and I smoked Menthols), needless to say I had two cigarettes yesterday, mainly because I wanted to see how I would like the analog (normally a pack-a-day smoker.) Well, I noticed that the cigarette tasted different - I didn't really feel like a cigarette anyway, but I found it odd that in the first day I notced a flavor change with the analog. It was definitely noticable.

I am really looking forward to the day when I get back my sense of smell and I can taste better - I can't wait to see how some of these cartos taste then!

i just received my VP today. i charged the battery and finally after 4 hours i tried to attach the caromizer...it wouldn't screw all the way on. so i thought maybe this is normal? i tried to take a drag and realized, no this is not normal...i took the cartomizer and tried it on the other battery and it fit perfectly (of course i picked the wrong one to charge first). now i have to wait for the "good" battery to charge. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Well my taste buds are so messed up right now from trying different flavors that they have no idea what they are tasting. Unfortunately, I have mainly 24's so don't really know what else to do. They are without a doubt too strong. Go figure. I swear I still taste the grape over everything else though. Perfume like is exactly the right description.

Right now I am using a cognac 18 that they sent as one of the six carts. Even the 18's have a harsher throat hit than Marby Reds which I find hard to comprehend. Also the headache seems to be coming back. How long should I keep trying them to see if the sore throat and headaches stop when I use one. Does it affect a person so quickly if it is a problem with PG?

Why am I still tasting grape? The battery doesn't retain and pass on any kind of flavor does it? I wouldn't think so.

I'm like you in that I don't really like the taste of tobacco which is why I got so many flavored ones. But like Gazoo said they taste like perfume at least at this point. I can always get different flavors and mgs, (more money though) but what is confusing and concerning me the most, is the sore throat and headaches.

I went thru the sore throat & headache thing too. Never did figure out what caused it, but it went away after a week or so.

Now I think the sore throat was caused by the drying effect of the PG. The headache was probably withdrawal from the all the crap I inhaled for 40 years.

That's my story and I stickin' to it!

I have been smoking analogs today as well since I was gone for hours and didn't care for the grape. I don't think I have been smoking them too close together which would cause too much nicotine. The thing is, the headache started very shortly after I first tried the first e-cig. Maybe I am drawing too hard?

On a side note. It occurred to me that I may have hijacked the original posters thread. Should I have started a new one? If I did and if I should have, my sincere apologies to the op. I didn't mean to take away from your success.

Skydragon, you may have had the same issues I was having - too high of a nicotine dose. I started on 18mg tobacco from Totally Wicked and it kicked my ..., hard. Thanks to the kind folks on this forum I figured out why I had such a bad reaction at first.

Now, I've only been vaping 8mg V4L and have no issues. Starting out slow, then maybe moving up a bit. I don't think I'll venture past 11mg anytime soon.

Don't feel bad about using this thread to seek help. Help is how we all get through, whatever your path away from analogs might be you need support! Try to stick with it, I have had good luck adding a bit of VG to my higher nic juices and carts to soften the nic level and throat hit up a bit, it's cheap and easy enough to find. I don't think I'm truly PG sensitive, just as vulnerable as anyone to over dosing on the nic and getting dried out from the PG.

As for flavors, yes it takes some time to be able to enjoy them, my tastes are still evolving after a month without an analog. I taste that perfume in a few of the cart flavors and I don't like it a bit. I think I hit my worst awareness of the perfume type flavs when I was a few days to say two weeks into being quit, had a couple of days there where everything tasted awful.

Keep up the good work!

Well, I will keep pluging away. Thank you for your input. It's nice to know others started with some problems but it is possible to get over them.

Thank you GeeYourHairSmellsTerrific for being understanding. I really didn't mean to take over your thread and detract from what you have accomplished.

May I ask how I can dilute the carts with VG when they are full. I have read about refilling but they are empty or low on liquid. Mine would be full. Thank you again and congratulations on being analog free.
