Nah! It screws on. I used a 901 to 801 adapter for my mini pipe and others for different mods. You should be good to go.

I didn't realize any adapters needed solder...thought they just screwed on. Some one that knows will answer this pretty quick Dragonlover, I'm sure.LOL, Mary Kay ! I knew some one would answer !

It is a soft metal that you use to "glue" the adapter to the bat. Essentially it is used to connect wires for continuity of electricity.
