It's really going to depend on the cart you use and the juice you use. When I started vaping and was using cart tanks I was able to use as high as 5.5v on a ~2.0ohm cart with certain juices and carts. I typically used boge 2.0ohm single coil carts or 1.6ohm dual coil smok carts.

Most carto's are going to be able to handle up to 12 watts as long as you are not frantically chain vaping. Please give it a chance to keep wicking from the tank (as stated by deleon517 a few primer (no power) puffs won't hurt it at all)

High VG eliquids wick much slower so you will need to make sure you are doing primer puffs

better throat hits happen with better air flow IMHO. Once you get comfortable with rebuilding (and have the proper equipment for it) I would recommend a kayfun lite+ or russian 91 as these have incredible throat hits
