Hi, I'm Steph.

I'm a new vaper, and I just wanted to introduce myself and share some observations on this new passion.

My cousin started it by buying a Blu. I was hooked on the idea from the first time I was introduced. I'd smoked for 15 years, give or take, and was looking for an exit strategy. My guy and I smoked roll-yer-owns for many years to save money; however, Pennsylvania has been slowly (actually, rather suddenly) taxing the CRAP out of even roll-your-own tobacco. Looking at another hike soon to come, the cigarettes had to go. So when my cousin showed up waving his Blu around, I knew it had to be a better option.

My guy (Rich) charged me with researching e-cigs and finding out whether Blu was the best model. As I'm sure others have done, I tried comparing products but the choices are dizzying. If it wasn't for ECF, I probably would have ended up with a Blu or Greensmoke. Thankfully I was able to read so much great stuff about V4L that I felt good about starting with them.

We took advantage of the Valentine sale to stock up on carts when buying our kits. The packages arrived on Thursday, and I haven't looked back.

Rich smoked up to three packs a day. He fully planned to keep smoking a bit longer while getting used to the vape. HE HASN'T SMOKED AT ALL. Nor have I, for that matter. This is some sort of miracle. As the last vestiges of the coffin nails disappear, I wonder how I ever put up with them so long.

I cleaned out all the ashtrays today. They are shiny and gleamy on the coffee table (for smoker friends). Such a weird sight. I never realized how much CRUD was a part of my daily life! The car is next....

I think it's important to go into vaping KNOWING that it's not "just like" smoking, it's a little different. I also went into it knowing that this was going to REPLACE the cigarettes, not augment them. Realistic expectations are a must for the beginner.

I think we're waiting for the one-week mark to make our next order. We've found a few winner and loser flavors to be aware of, and after using the manual PT, I think we might need some manual batts as well. I'm beginning to feel the first pains of defensive order planning!

Thanks everyone for being here, and creating such a huge trove of information and opinion for others to draw on. You are all doing a great job of helping bring people into the fold, so to speak! Keep up the good work!

Take care all,
Steph

Welcome aboard, fellow Pennsylvanian.... :)

Yeah....it was that last round of taxes that did it for me too. I had just bought a roll-your-own machine and all the fixens too. Also...the smart-mouth security guard threatening me with a fine for smoking in an open air parking garage...AN OPEN AIR PARKING GARAGE!.

Love my vapor. :)

A few of our regular hang-out-at-our-house-all-the-time friends are eyeing our vapes enviously. Two I know for certain are going to buy (waiting for funds), so it won't be too bad, actually. I'd be a real hypocrite to send my friends out into the Pennsylvania winter to have a smoke. None of them smoke near as much as we did!

Being at the bar last night was a sobering experience, though (pun bonus +1). The smoke was really beginning to bother me! Never thought that would happen!

Welcome and congrats Stephra! Vaping is and will be a life saver for us. I have found vaping a lot more fun than smoking. Yes PA was/is taxing the heck out of us and I've read plans for another possible $1.00 per pack new tax hike. I too found that vaping cured me from the start after 30+ years of 2.5 packs a day. Today is my 100th day and there's no turning back!

Again, congrats on you guys choosing a healthier lifestyle and i can't wait for you guys to reap all the future benefits you are about to realize besides the money saved, the loss of the "stink" return of taste and smell and more importantly how good you will feel about yourselves. Welcome to the forum and as always Happy Vaping!!!

Welcome, welcome, welcome. I hear ya about the taxes. I moved up to Ohio after living in Florida for 20+ years and what a shock. No pubic smoking, 6.00 a pack smokes (no can do anymore). I too was lucky to find the forum and with their knowledge and help I struck gold as well. My friends and family that smoke have let me be the lab rat because I smoked the heaviest. We almost have enough now for our own vape group once a week. You are nice to still let your friends smoke in your house. I noticed that I am okay with someone smoking next to me, but the stale lingering odor on the clothes when someone walks by is what I can't take. (Yes, I am now a hippocrit too)

Again, congrats and happy vaping.

Good story, Steph, and not unlike mine or many others' here. I think that the smartest thing you (and I) did, besides finding V4L, was to quit cigs the moment everything arrived. I'm six weeks in without a cig, and I'd smoked MLs for many years. Almost too easy. Anyhu, congrats to you both, and yes, keep extra batts and cartos at home, car, work, etc. Be ready for anything.

We brought another friend on board when we ordered, so that's three of us, two more definitely coming soon, and about five more in our extended circle who are considering it. I figure at that point, we'll have to start a club, have cart exchange meetings, and issue press releases.

Did I mention we're nearly out of V4L cards?

Congrats on the change! My story was similar--long story short I was about ready to be done with the MESS of analogues but not the ACTION of smoking. My mom intro'd me to e-cigs, but she had ordered some kit that wrapped you up into getting cartridges every month like clockwork--a scam, certainly. But that was my first intro to the existance of e-cigs. I forgot about the whole thing for about a week until an ad popped up while surfing online and then I began researching like mad.

I really thot I'd need a cig-like size and shape, so I did end up ordering a Luci and a Blu first off. LUCI IS A BIG RIP-OFF. Unit isn't bad but the company = jerks. I ordered through a special promotion and was not informed in any way I'd get one battery and one atty ONLY. Should have been two batts. Anyway, Luci was ok and I stopped smoking without even choosing to the SAME DAY it arrived. Cartridges sucked tho and I sucked them dry (LOL) all in one day! Blu came a day later. Made me pretty happy--slightly better cartridges and nice Blu pack two batts etc.

Didn't realize what I was missing, however, until I got my 510. HEAVEN! Unfortunately I tend to be a bit obsessive and a bit of a collector and now I've got a whole collection of stuff. The Luci, Blu, 510 (4 of them in fact, platinum and copper), 901 from TW, 801 on the way... e-liquid collection growing as well.

Long story short (!?!?) I'm a vaper forever now and am done with smoking. BTW mom sent back her scam-kit and I ordered her a couple of 510s. She wasn't in love at first but spent a couple of days with me hanging out and vaping and seems to have gotten her vaping issues sorted. Still not off analogues but I think she is looking forward to some more cig-like e-juice flavs so we'll see. My goal is to get her off the cancer sticks! :)
