So I'm in Florida and I met a gentleman named Ray who was taking monster hits off of his REOSMod while I was outside smoking. He gave me the run down and corrected my perceptions (after trying cheap e-cigs). That night I did some research and the next day I called Robert @ REOSMods. He corrected everything else I needed. I bought a REO Grand basic consumables and a LOT of ejuice from Alien Visions ejuice. I thought I would prefer the tobacco flavors, but I much prefer the premium flavors (faves are Christy's Cap, Banana Slurry and Bees Knees ...mmmm honey! - One beginner question - I'm coughing up stuff in the mornings and my lungs seem extra sensitive, but my lung capacity is noticeably better already. A google search yielded that this is pretty normal - when does this change, or does it? Also, I was a pack a day smoker and bought 24mg bottles of nicotine ejuice. Waaaaay too much for me. I'm going to turn friends on and donate it to them. Can somebody share a story of backing off the nicotine and talk about success? My family is SO happy after my 20 years of smoking finally coming to an end! - Getting my first post in here (4 more) so I can post in the REOS section. elricho vape.jpg

Congrats!

For me, the congestion and coughing went away within the first 10 days or so. I was a 1-1.5 PAD smoker for 17 years. The lung capacity rapidly increased during that time as well. If you are 2 weeks out you will probably be through with the phlegm shortly.

As for nic levels, I started at 36 for a couple of weeks because I was really paranoid about not being able to completely stop smoking but immediately ordered 24mg and have been dropping a level with subsequent orders since then. I started on May 8th and have settled on 10mg at this point, with no craving for a smoke since day 2. I like the throat hit of 16-18 mg a little better than 10 mg, but I am trying to ween myself completely off nicotine at some point, so I am sticking at 10 for a minute to see if I start vaping significantly more. If not, I will drop to 6 in short order. Nicotine is such a weird substance in that you know you have the right level when you just feel normal. Too much or too little, and you can definitely tell. I was really surprised by being able to drop my nic level to a third of what I started at so quickly, but like I said, no cravings for cigarettes, and I am trying to 86 it completely from my life at some point.

Best of luck!

Welcome to the forum, elricho, and the wonderful world of vaping!

Check out ECF's InfoZone; there's an excellent section on what new vapers can expect. Yes, your lungs are cleaning themselves out. The worst part will pass soon, and it's great that you're already experiencing improved lung function!

Most juice vendors allow you to choose the nicotine strength when you order. If you've found flavors you like (and btw, it's not at all unusual for ex-smokers to find they prefer non-tobacco flavors), think about ordering low-mg or 0-mg juices to mix with what you already have. This will give you a lower nic level. I was a 2 PAD smoker and started vaping at 18mg. Sometimes now I take a few hits of 24, but mostly now I'm vaping 18 or 12 or even 6. IMO, one of the main plusses of ecigs is that each person can tailor their nic level to personal preferences and can change levels at will. Couldn't do that, except very roughly, with cigarettes!

Good luck to you, and vape on! :vapor:

Yeah, just buy lower nic juice and mix it...or...get some straight VG from Walmart or CVS and add it. That will "water" down the flavor...but it will lower the nic without waiting for the mail to come.

I saw a video about this and watched about VG dilution in a video. Have you done this, and was it effective?

Right on Pesky. I too had no cigarette craving after day 2. What juice are you using?

For the last few weeks, I have been finishing my 16 MG Grenada from Elevated, 20 MG Pluid cut with Grenada, and Vapetrik Khlorine. I can vape any of those all day.

I've heard a lot of hype about Grenada. They carry some great juices on that site.

I started with a couple 24mg and mostly 18mg. The 24mg was too much for the frequency I was vaping being a 1/2 PAD smoker that turned into a nearly all day vaper almost immediately.
After about 6 weeks I switched down to 12mg and am happy with that. Probably won't cut down for a while. I'm pretty happy with 12.
As for the phlem that went away maybe two weeks or so after I quit. My nose was also pretty runny for a bit.

congrats, I'm on day 6 and experiencing a light amount of phlegm. i originally started at 18mg, was 1/2 a PAD, and that was way too much for me. I'm constantly vaping, so i went with 3mg dose from heather's HV, and that seems to do the trick. even got some no nic juice for late night.

Congrats to you brother! ( I too live north of NYC - just a bit further than you, 2 hours) - what setup are you using? (I gotta fix my lower signature)
