March 10th 2011 was the day I had my last cigarette.
It was about 10 days after recieving my first ecigarette order. I had no idea what I was doing at the time, and had ordered 4mg strength cartridges (lol). Still, I could tell from my first puff that this was THE solution. That first week with the ecig I only smoked 10 cigarettes and they kept tasting more and more NASTY. I ordered carts with a higher mg and the day they arrived I finished the last of the pack I had from the week before and bid cigarettes a bewildered farewell.
Bewildered because before this point I had given up on being able to Quit. I really had resigned myself to being a lifelong smoker...and I found myself not enjoying them and actually despising the taste and sensation.
I'll admit...I'm a lazy vaper. I have stayed with the same supplier since the beginning because it is EASY. No hassle, no fuss. That isn't to say I didn't spend a fair amount of money finding the right vape for my tastes. I have a tackle box full of carts and juices that are barely used. I played with the idea of doing a mod and decided it wasn't right for me so it isn't as bad as it *could* have been financially. For the past 6 months I have been using the same juice with a normal cart and a pass through via my laptop/car. I haven't bothered to reduce nic levels below 18mg because that hasn't been my goal thus far. NOT SMOKING has been my goal. Now that I am at a year smoke free, I might think about reducing nic but it isn't a pressing issue. I feel great, I'm smoke free and that's a win whichever way I look at it.
If you are reading this and you are unsure about whether or not an ecig is right for you, I implore you to at least try it. With my whole heart I think they are one of the most important inventions of our time. You may think that it is just another gimmick...that maybe you are just too emotionally involved with smoking or too messed up for them to work for you. Well, I thought so too. Take that little bit of hopefullness you have inside of you and try it with an open mind. I am unsure of current statistics but from the last ones I read, you have a VERY good chance of being just like me a year from now.

God bless and good luck!

I was thinking that exact same thought today. For decades, people have been coming up with stop-smoking solutions that just don't work very well. Now we finally have one. Let's just hope it isn't subject to outrageous taxation and regulation.

Congrats to you!!! I am going on 6 months analog free. I have to admit I fell off the wagon for about a month but it was limited to1 cig a day. That was during month number 4. But compared to my previous 2 pak a day habit I can live with it :). Congrats again to ya and keep on vape'n!!!

Big congratulations, I hope you did at least a little something nice to celebrate that wonderful accomplishment!! I really know about that sense of resignation, I smoked for 45 years and had pretty much resigned myself to the "fact" that I was doomed to die a smoker. I finally managed to quit 7 weeks ago and still can't believe how easy e-cigs made it when nothing else never worked before. I'm thinking a building a shrine to the guy who invented e-cigs. :) Anyway, congratulations again and thank you for sharing.

I have been smoke free for about 2 1/2 months and I'm always scared that this is too good to be true. Good things like this just doesn't happen to me. That the rug will be pulled out from under me any minute by greedy big tobacco and taxation which would make vaping just as expensive as actually smoking. Or worse yet banning them completely.

... I have been smoke free for about 2 1/2 months and I'm always scared that this is too good to be true.

I just had my 2nd Vaping Anniversary and I still am amazed ... daily ... that e-cigs made quitting cigarettes a completely painless and stress free experience.

When it comes to the FDA and taxation issues I'm kind of a sideways optimist. All the battles aren't over but when you can pick up a cheapie disposable e-cig at Wal-Mart ... I think vaping isn't going to go away any time soon. I'm sure there are going to be a lot of shake-ups in the future but by the time the dust settles ... e-cigs are here to stay.
