Thank you. I actually do have few friends who I can ask. If I would've seen through my own ignorance before as far as how I react to something new to me as realized that this is the reason my questions are without proper reasearch on my part I would not have spoken up the way I did. I honestly regret creating this thread. I feel stupid.

It is sad, there was a time when a person could ask a question and get a respectful answer. When I started, I came here because I had no idea how to even start "my research". I ask "stupid" questions and they were answered knowing that I was a beginner. It pains me that you have not gotten the same treatment.
Please ask your original question again; if I can answer, I will.

There are still a few of us around that try to answer questions openly and honestly. FOr me the problem is I found my happy place and really didn't venture out of it much. I can explain basic round wire builds, battery safety, ohms law till the cows come home. Even a bit of DIY eliquid. But Temp control and fancy wire builds? Well I am still figuring out a lot of that myself.

So weather or not I jump in and answer sort of depends on if the question is in an area I feel comfortable teaching.

I wish you didn't feel that way. I think it's a valuable thread. You should have seen some of the threads I started back in December. I really regret them. This is NOT one of those threads....it's value added !

Likewise. I will answer what I can with what I know - limited though that may be.

It's all good....but here's the thing.... If you're going to ask questions on a forum like this, you should expect the answers to range from polite and informative to rude and informative to totally off topic to downright dangerous. The approach would be to take what you want and ignore the rest.

Words of wisdom there. Only thing I would add is, the newbies should try to be tolerant of the type of replies they get as well as the experts being tolerant of the newbies sometimes clumsy questions.

I've seen forums where newbies get flamed and driven off. We do pretty well here.

That being said, an awful lot of folks join this forum with crap batteries, a cheap mech, a cloud blaster dripper and 18 ga wire. They're looking for us to tell them how to win their local cloud off. It's been going on for years and those of us who've been here for awhile get a little edgy. Good, safe information is offered and generally ignored. Not only does this put the new guy in harms way, but if he makes the news, it sheds a negative light on vaping as a whole. When someone says they are just learning to build and they have 22ga wire, the correct response is to start out a little slower. Like with a reliable ohms meter, some steam engine research, make sure the batteries are good and from a reputable seller......all that stuff that annoys the dude who asked the question. If he gets hurt, at least we don't have to feel guilty about it.

So if I came off harsh the other day telling you to start out with 26ga, I'm sorry.

Very well said..................ps.....does fastech still sell those cloud blaster drippers ?

I have seen the same thing rude answers many times and I get upset. People tell them to do research and I feel that's what they are doing. My suggestion is read some other peoples questions and you'll see the good people so read what they say carefully and everything else with a grain of salt. If you read this post a few of the real good ones stand out.

Well, this is how it all went down...

Back in the day, nobody could blow a cloud if they tried.
You were lucky if you could get a decent wisp of vaper out of what existed then.

So everyone here was just about whatever it took to get off the smokes.
And that is how we answered questions, and that is how we treated people.

But now things are different.
There are different types of folks here now.

Not everyone is nice, or cares about the newcomers.
And not all newcomers are like they once were.

Evolution of an industry I guess.
And of this forum.
:)

I've been known to be a bit harsh, I guess. But only when it's a matter of safety, particularly battery safety. If someone asks about building a .1 ohm coil, because they want to blow big clouds, and hasn't the slightest idea about ohm's law, or safe battery discharge rates, I'm liable to get a little testy.

Sometimes researching is better because not only can you find great answers quickly, the rude replies aren't directed at you personally. And some of the people with the best answers have left our fair forum.

If I happen to be the only one around, yeah I may suggest researching because I don't know much. For Reals :)

I am offended. I've made my way up gradually to a 28 gauge using less and less power as time goes on

    2 yrs & 4 months. Woo.

Pretty much everybody has been respectful and polite since day 1. A couple of words thrown by me but that's only when I can feel the condescension or its spread on thick within posts.

It's helpful that the common interest is for vaping to be safer and receive less criticism from the gp.
That leads to people being kind and helpful so that they instil the same practices and attitude among fellow vapers.
It is easier to be corrected by somebody with that attitude.

    For me anyway.

I have to say I must have been fortunate to have come here without questions. Just curiosity. I had just purchased my first device (eGrip V1) and googled it to see if could find info on reliability, safety and life expectancy.
Stumbled into a 138 page thread devoted to my mod. Huffed and puffed my way thru every page before even joining the forum. Learned soooooo much that I had not even imagined possible. Got ideas that I'd have never thought of. Like better coils that could be adapted to work with my mod. That my mod had an RBA base available. I wouldn't have to be buying coils for the rest of my life!!!!!! I could make my juice!!!!!!!!! I was hooked.
Then I joined up. Used to hang out in the new members forum welcoming trying to be helpful. Gave that up! Saw so many people that must have gotten more confused after asking than before..... six totally different answers to the same question or..... your Mod is junk ya gotta trash it and get what I got.. or... getting a couple know it alls telling you the other is an idiot..or.....intentionally wrong answers!!(yes I believe I've seen that) .... or the infamous.... I have no clue about your device but I would.......
I would NEVER send a noob here to ask questions. If I could I'd direct them to a thread where they might learn answers to more than they ever woulda thought to ask.

    Just my :2c:
