lmao.

While I don't have a computer in the "Reading Room", I have them all over the place in the house.
And my phone is one. And my car has one.
Incidentally- most of them run linux, LordDavon. ;)

Ahh.. A Linux brother!

I don't have one in the RAV4 but, I am thinking of embedding the iPad into it. I was going to embed the iPod Touch into it but, it is too small. If you've seen the dash on a RAV4, it screams to be torn up and modded.

I am not sure if I would consider my cell phone a computer. At least, I try not to. I have an EVO4G and, if I did consider it one, I wouldn't love it as much.

Yes indeed. Linux almost exclusively for about... 10 years or so.
I also tend to put linux where it isn't supposed to go- Ipods a few times, an old Zaurus PDA.

Funny thing about the cell- if mine (Moto Droid) wasn't a handheld linux pc (rooted and rom'd) I wouldn't like it as much. Don't like phones. Newest linux toy: Nook Color.

And speaking of "Ooops" this post was about as far off-topic as it could be.
Saying "Ooops" up there counts as bringing it back, right?
;)

I started back in '96 with Linux. It was more fun back then because almost no one knew it. lol My funnest Linux project was the conversion of the Sharp Zaurus for Dynamism back in 2002 - 2006. I miss those.

I got my daughter the Cruz Reader for her birthday (which is also on Xmas day). I got her an Android phone for Hanukkah. Converting her early!

lol T is looking and calling for buddies? lol :)

Well, what happened was, the response was so great it temporarily knocked out ECF and the Linox frazzlemeisster thingie sent all those responses to an unknown Facebook page where they were assaulted by nasty alien bugs that devoured them. They remain unrecoverable.

I want to personally thank each and every one of you who responded to my call for help and you will be remembered in my Last Will and Testament. Each of you can expect to receive

nothing.

Well, considering that you are out on your 4-wheeler and I am home with a broken (well, recently repaired) back, I am probably going to go before you. As for your response, I just want you to return the favor. So, since I have been home and sitting in this hard chair while coding all day long. Can you help me out? My .... is really hurting. I need you to KISS IT!

HA!

LD- I think that guy from Texas hates us now. Watch out for Killer Cows.

The Zaurus was pretty good for its day, and OpenZaurus worked well.
Congrats on getting your daughter converted to linux early...
The earlier the better. ;)

Nah, T will always have our backs!

I really liked the Zaurus. When I converted the first Zaurus in 2002, it took the Open Source community 4 months to figure out what I did and they reverse engineered my changes. It was funny. I guess that they thought it was more complicated than it was. I did it in 2 hours.

The things that we did, back then, became OpenEmbedded. OE is the basis for many embedded OSes. That includes Android.

I still remember all of us hacking the drivers for the ATI Imageon. I really loved hacking that little device. Don't get me wrong, I love andLinux but, it isn't the same. Even the Palm and WinCE work wasn't as fun.

Oh, my nephew has one of my old Zaurus units. I think it is the C760 or C3100 or something (I sold the original C700 on Ebay for a fortune since it was the "original Zaurus" [where the conversion was created]). Anyway, he has been downloading the emulators for it. He was looking around for a MAME emulator and the download link was bad so, he wanted to email the author. He looked at the name and freaked when it read LordDavon. HA! He then noticed that I did SNES, DosBox, Amiga, etc. ports. Needless to say, I got a call a few minutes later. I don't have any of that old code. :(

And my back is okay. Its my front that needs repair!

I tell ya, I still think if you squint at your avatar, it looks like you aren't wearing a shirt and are one hairy dude. Now, I've always heard that clean country living would put hair on your chest but, I didn't realize it was THAT clean! HA!
